When we fail at anything, who do we blame? Do we blame our Coaches or Mentors or do we blame everything we have to work with; the weather, the transportation system, the education system, the parent who didn’t send us to the best schools or just anything we can find to blame or do we…
To all my Irish friends living in different parts of the world, Happy early St. Patrick’s day to you. I believe it is going to be an amazing and colourful event as always here in Ireland and especially in Dublin (capital city of Ireland) where all the magic happens.
Not sure what St. Patrick’s day is? Please check HERE. I shared all you need to know about Paddy’s day in that post.
When I decided to write this post, it reminded me of back in the day when people would tease me about my height, my weight, my legs, my hair and everything really. In their opinion, I was too tall for a girl, too skinny for a girl, my legs are too skinny and my hair wasn’t thick(full) enough. Fast forward to now, everyone wants to be thin, everyone wants to be tall, everyone wants to have long legs and everyone wants manageable afro 🙂 My advice to you is to LOVE YOURSELF and BE YOURSELF. You are unique and gifted in your own way.
That is not the post for today, that was by the way. Today, I will share with you WHY thick skin is a must for you as a Blogger / Content Creator.
It is obvious that we live in a world of information overload where everyone and everything needs our attention. Can you help me do this or can you help me do that? Does that sound familiar? However, Research shows that an “average person” spends about 4.7 hours a day on their phone, calling, texting and doing other things. The same research shows that so many people spend at about 3.2hrs per day on social media. In this busy world of information overload and everything and everyone trying to get your attention, today, I will share with you how to STAY FOCUS!
By now, you all should know that I use myself as example in all my works. I do my best to stick with my life events and experiences because I know my own story better. When it comes to skin care and make up, it is no different because, I have being on a wear foundation everyday trial and error and the result of my findings, I will share with you in this post.
First, thank you all so much for your good wishes on my birthday. You all made me feel so special and loved. One of my desires is to be able to help people through what I do and I was really happy to receive such feedbacks from you all for my birthday. I am grateful.
Can you imagine? A lady, Bukola Orobiyi did a special birthday number for me. That is an icing on the cake for me. I have written to her to say thank. Amazing lady with amazing voice. I will be the first to buy her record if she ever releases one. She’s awesome.
A friend of mine told me that she wants to go back to school to do Nursing a couple of months ago. I was just at home when I remembered her and thought to call her to ‘hold her responsible” / follow up on what she said. I totally forgot to ring her on that day. Thank God I got the chance to hook up with her the next day (Sunday) and so I asked her; “so what about the course”? She said, oh yes, I have now started a module and will continue full time in the fall / Autumn. I “jumped for joy” and said wow! I am truly happy for her because she is now at peace with what she should be doing with her life.
Today is a beautiful day because it is my birthday! Not only that, it is also the 3rd birthday of the blog. On this day 3years ago, I started this blog. It was the birthday gift I gave to myself in 2014 and it has since grown from just a hobby to finding purpose. Wowsome!
My mother is my biggest inspiration. I like to say that it is from her strength that I draw daily and here’s WHY: she is strong, wise, confident and she never gives up. Last week, she lost her brother (my Uncle) and as challenging as this time is for her, she sounds so brave / strong on the phone anytime I speak with her. Out of the many wise words she would say to me, one I always hold on to and never give up on is this: A journey of a thousand miles start with JUST one step”!
Today, I will tell you the reason WHY you have to take that first step first before you can ever soar…….
Today I bring you big trends and colours for SS17, shop display and visual merchandising of the Paris shops. Before that, I hope your week went well. Mine was packed. Can’t complain because busy is good. So how are you and what are your plans for the weekend? Share what you are up to with me in the comments please.
Before I hit the streets of Paris in my sneakers and scarf, this was what I wore to breakfast + did quick photos…..a pair of fitted skinny denim, high neck blouse / turtle neck and my trusted long coat which I have been wearing non-stop. To finish the look, I wore some ankle boots which I first wore in this look HERE and finished the look with my mini orange bag to add a pop of colour to my blue-black ensemble. And voila, that is my outfit of the day. If I do say so myself, it is an effortlessly casual but chic look.
When I was in secondary school, precisely SS3 (final year of middle school / leaving cert year), my Physics teacher was standing next to my seat when he saw some candle wax on my notebook(exercise book). He then said, you have being studying right, burning the mid night oil? I said yes and he said, aww, that’s good, that’s good with a cheeky smile.
I attended the Premier Vision last Thursday, it was the main reason WHY I went to Paris. The Premier Vision is WHERE all TREND FORECASTS start for every season. In this case, it was all about the trend forecast for Spring / Summer 2018. I know you would say 2018, but that is far? Yes, trend forecast starts at least two seasons ahead so Designers can get their collections ready for you and I.
I haven’t written any “help for bloggers” post for a while. I will be writing more in the coming weeks because I have so many requests piled up from my inbox. I will share to the best of my ability and will only share things I know and are true. They are the things that have worked for me too on my blogging journey.
Firstly, I like to thank everyone who actually takes the time to READ my blogs. You are the reason WHY I write / share / blog and I love you for it.
Now unto the post:
So last year for Valentines day, I shared my love story. It was the story of how I met my husband at a relatively young age and WHY I think no woman should ever be pressured to get married. You can read it in full HERE. I was really happy that a lot of you were kind enough to share your love story with me in that post. I say thank you again because I learnt a lot from your stories.
Today, I will not be sharing any more love stories but will be sharing love all the same.
When you think Style, Romance, Exotic food + Pastries and Architecture, what comes to mind? Paris I would say! What would you say?
In today’s post, I will be sharing my “out and about” look book + Style guide + What you need to know about and before you go to Paris. This series is going to be in parts so for this one which I like to call part one, allow me focus on STYLE. Please read……………
For this blog, I had two choices, use the images/photos I have or don’t share any blog at all. I choose the former because when things don’t go the way we plan, we have to look for a way out or other alternatives. Why?
One of the characteristics of a leader or one who desires to be a leader is to look for a way out even when it has to do with a look book / outfit of the day. Today on Motivation for Monday, I will share some leadership principles to learn from an Eagle with you. Please read………..
I was supposed to share this motivation blog with you on the 1st of February but had some blogs lined up so I decided to leave it till the weekend. You all know how passionate I am about speaking words of encouragement into your lives. Every time I do this, I encourage myself too to do better and be better. So today, I want to share with you, Why Dreams Die!
As a working mum, it can be hard sometimes to get around everything I need to do. Let’s just say, there is always something to do. I have now learnt that planning my day everyday helps me do so much. Also I ask for help when I need some. From driving the children to school to doing house-hold chores, I ask for help because I know I can’t possibly do everything on my own.
Bags to me is like icing on the cake for any look. Wear something casual (denim, basic tee & sneakers) and you look casual. Wear a solid leather bag with that look and your look becomes instantly elevated.
While bags can instantly elevate a look, I have to say that I do not have a wide range of them. I have a minimal collection but I am happy with them. Not sure if this is vain but I do care for my bags like they mean something to me. In this post, I will share some of the ways I take care of my leather bags with you……
It was just like yesterday when we said Happy New Year and all of a sudden, January has come to an end. Amazing! This goes to show that time waits for no one. So how was January for you? January for me was busy. I am venturing into new things and just like any other new thing, it’s been challenging but not what I couldn’t handle, thank God. God is always faithful.
Today, on the blog, I have the January blogs in review + Motivation for Monday for you.
When it comes to fashion, a lot of times, you get what you pay for. Other times, you do not get the value of the money you pay. In the latter, it means you only paid for the brand name and not the quality. A lot of people would do anything to put on the brand irrespective of the quality. For me, irrespective of the brand or the price of the product, the quality matters to me especially if I am paying a lot for it. In this post, I will share with you my take on whether designer shoes are worth it or not.
Every time I write makeup blogs, I always say, “to get the perfect or flawless makeup, you do not have to have the most expensive makeup BUT the right tools or makeup brushes”. What I mean is this; the right tools / make up brushes help you get flawless makeup finish and not the makeup itself.
While it is important to use the “best” tools to apply your make up, it is more important to care for the tools you use for your makeup application. WHY?
My second read this year is a book called Mindset by Carol Dweck. I have learnt what kind of mindset works for growth and which one doesn’t. Coincidentally, one of my Mentees (I currently have 6 of them from different parts of the world) wrote an amazing article about the power of the mind…
I popped in to see my “older” friend at home last Thursday and her daughter said to me, Aunty, you look so earthy and pretty; you are wearing all shades of brown……I said yes, I went for photos earlier and I just wanted to wear browns……..
I love all kinds of brown, not only do they sit well on my skin, they are a perfect shade for this season. The earthy feel to browns remind me of mother nature and the beauty of Winter……..
