BROWNS & THE ART OF LAYERING

I popped in to see my “older” friend at home last Thursday and her daughter said to me, Aunty, you look so earthy and pretty; you are wearing all shades of brown……I said yes, I went for photos earlier and I just wanted to wear browns……..

I love all kinds of brown, not only do they sit well on my skin, they are a perfect shade for this season. The earthy feel to browns remind me of mother nature and the beauty of Winter……..

HAIR CARE TIPS :::: HOW TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO YOUR EDGES

Someone once wrote, if it puts some pressure on your hair line / edges, it is not worth it. What this means is….. if their is any hair style you wear that could damage your edges, stay clear of it or them. In my honest and humble opinion, this is the wisest thing to do for your hair’s sake.

Its just hair you may say. I know but once the hair follicle on your edges or hair line is damaged, they never grow back. Did you know that?

Today, I bring you few TIPS on HOW to prevent damage to your edges

REVIEW OF THE REAL TECHNIQUES CORE COLLECTION BRUSHES (#AskMJ)

Hi Mj, Can you please do a review of brushes that are durable and affordable. XO………”A”

I was sent a request to help look for a set of make up brushes that are affordable but can stand the test of time. And like I always say, getting flawless make up is not about how expensive your products (make up) are BUT how well you can apply your make up + the tools you use.

4 THINGS TO CONSIDER BEFORE TRYING OUT OR BUYING A NEW FOUNDATION

Whether subtle make up or dramatic one, good “foundation” is the back bone of any kind of make up. To get that flawless looking skin even if you don’t have one, you need a foundation.

However, it is not just enough to get a foundation, the KEY thing to consider when choosing a foundation is if the foundation actually matches your skin tone or would cover the multitude of sin of acne or spots we are trying to cover up……

MINIMALISM & VALIDATION

One of the most REWARDING thing I have enjoyed as a Blogger is that I have built an audience that truly believes in me. I am indeed grateful for this.

At the weekend, I responded to so many emails from all my social networks; Instagram, Facebook and Gmail. I take one hour daily before I go to bed to read and respond to emails. The two that brought tears to my eyes this past weekend were the ones I received from a lady from Nigeria and another from the UK via my Facebook page. I have cut out names to keep identity secured…….please read below:

COLOURBLOCKING & SHOULDA, WOULDA, COULDA

During this past holidays, I rested more than I would normally do and I feel terrific about it. I also read books and selected the books I wanted to read for the entire year – I have bought 2 of the books already and reading them. I also listened to a lot of podcasts, made videos and did more planning for the year. I also did some faffing around with the boys in our pyjamas, watched movies, ate at “sinful hours” and we had lots of fun in general.

So What did you do? What did you plan for the year? I am curious to know so please share them with me below…

I do count it a great honour and privilege to be able to influence, inspire and encourage you through Fashion. I am happy indeed that what we set out to do here on the blog is working and also growing into so much more like the “Motifashion” series which is a mix of fashion and motivation and also the “Use What You Have” book to mention a few. I am grateful indeed. I thank you for staying with me on Moj In Touch.

How are you and how did you spend your Christmas? Did your Santa turn up? 🙂

SIMPLE ELEGANCE ::: WHAT I WORE FOR MY BOOK LAUNCH & MOTIVATION FOR MONDAY

Honestly, the last thing on my mind for the book launch was what to wear. I wasn’t so particular about what to wear because although it was important, it wasn’t urgent. What was urgent to me were things like; getting the cake sorted, ensuring bags to take away was delivered and most importantly, ensuring books was available for reveal and launch.

While what to wear on the day wasn’t my focus, I knew I wanted to stand out on the day. But wait, what does it mean to stand out?

MY GOD-GIVEN GIFTS VS MY PHYSICAL GIFTS

This time of the year is all about sharing love and giving gifts. While giving gifts is good, giving gifts people would value and use is the utmost to me when I give gifts. So in simple terms, before I give any gifts, I put some thoughts into it and ensure the receiver actually would like the gift. Would like the gift? Well, we can’t decide what people like but we can at least try to give what is good.

So what is a gift?

SINGLE PLEAT SKIRT, GOLD ACCENT & FISH NET TIGHTS

When it comes to formal work wear, there are limitations to what we can do because of the dress code rules we have to abide by or with. However, “twerking” what we wear to work in an unexpected way can add some fun and creativity to our looks. This is what I mean……..in all honesty, while pantyhose / tights are tagged a “requirement” in some professional scene or setting, wearing fish net tights is not necessarily professional to work. Am I wrong?

FOOTAGE FROM THE BOOK LAUNCH ::: Book Signing, Meet & Great & After Party

Hope you had a nice week. I did myself. You may have noticed that I took a little break from posting here on the blog. I was very intentional about that so I could get some rest after all I put my body through before the book launch. I did a lot of running around to ensure that everything goes well so I was very tired hence the break. I am grateful to God everything went well as planned and beyond. Thanks again to everyone who came through.

The LAUNCH OF “USE WHAT YOU HAVE”……..

Sunday evening was “lit”as friends, family, fans, supporters, blog readers, Youtube family and well wishers came to celebrate with me at the unveiling and launch of my book, “Use What You Have“. I was overwhelmed with the love and support on the day. I cried, laughed and eventually jumped for joy, it was amazing.

I woke up at about 4am on the day praying and asking God to take all the glory and He did. It was an amazing event. About 100 people came through to share the moment with me.

CANTU SHEA BUTTER REVIEW (This is giving my natural hair some loving at the moment)

I have been gently transitioning into natural hair for some time now. When I say transitioning, I mean I decided not to have a big chop; I am gently trimming my textured hair (relaxed hair or chemically straightened hair) off as my natural hair continues to grow.

Since I have been transitioning, I decided not to buy any hair products until I did a thorough research. After researching and doing some reading too, I decided to try out the “Cantu Shea Butter” hair products.  Today, I bring you my findings, it is been good………
