Hi Everyone, Welcome! Hope you are doing well. I am doing very well and looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend.
I filmed my Autumn foundation routine and thought to share same with you. It is a simple step by step guide to achieve a dewy, glowy and flawless foundation routine. I call it a picture perfect foundation routine. Did you know I am on youtube? For people who don’t know, I make youtube videos sharing fashion, beauty, hauls, hair and a little bit of my life.
Here’s my foundation routine video.
Below is the picture of some of the products I use to care for my skin. I have in the picture my Cleanser, Moisturiser, Sunscreen with spf 25, Foundation primer, Foundation and two of my favourite brushes from MAC Cosmetics.
Having worked as an Independent Beauty Consultant for more than 3 years, My tips on how to get a flawless finish foundation include
1, Wash your face : use a mild face wash to wash your face. Make sure your face wash is the one that would not dry out your skin. Exfoliate your face if you need to. You do not need to exfoliate daily. Too much exfoliation will dry out your skin(strip your face of it’s natural oils) and would make you break out. Exfoliating once a week is enough.
2, Use a Toner/Cleanser: a toner/cleanser will help you restore moisture to your face and prevent your skin from drying out. When you wash your face, your skin losses it’s natural oils, so using your choice of toner/cleanser would help you restore the moisture your skin needs. Never use toner/cleanser with alcohol even if you have very oily skin. Alcohol will dry out your skin. Unfortunately because the skin will take care of itself, it will produce it’s own natural oils and your skin will become more oily and it will cause you to break out.
3, Moisturise your face: This step is so important. Moisturiser would help your skin retain it’s youthfulness and natural glow. Invest in a good quality moisturiser. Dry skin or a skin suffering from dryness will age untimely. Ensure your moisturiser has SPF(sun protection factor). This will prevent your skin from sun damage. It is important to wear SPF all year round.
4, Use a Primer: the primer creates a nice canvass/base for your foundation. It will also help your foundation last all day.
5, Apply your foundation of choice: You can apply your foundation with a brush or a beauty blender. In my case, I use my foundation brush.
6, Set your foundation: this is a very important and final step. For your foundation to stay in place, set it with your favourite powder especially if you have oily skin. Applying powder will make your face remain matte, at least for some time. Use a beauty blotter if you have oily face to help you keep your face matte/shine free. You can then re-apply your powder. If you apply powder when your face is already oily, your face will look so caked up/heavy and your pores will become clogged which would cause you to break out.
7, Use a setting Spray: this step is optional. The spray helps give you that dewy and glowy look which is perfect for Autumn/Winter. In the warmer months, I wouldn’t recommend the setting spray especially if you have combination to oily skin.
Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope you find this tips helpful. Let me know what you think, leave me a comment below. Have a lovely day.
Beauty comes from within. With or without foundation or any other make up, you are beautiful. Do not let anyone tell you different.
Fashion or beauty is not how costly or how cheap, fashion is a passion…….Mojisola.
Always buy what works for your skin. When you try out a new product, give it time to get results.
I use the MaryKay skincare/beauty products. I have used the same range of products for almost 4 years. If you are happy with what you are using, don’t change it. Good Luck.
