One of the things most women struggle with is their body type. Most women don’t know the category they fall into and when they do, they don’t know how to dress their body type.
There are four types of body type. 1, the Apple. 2, the hourglass. 3, the pear. 4, the ruler.
Over a period of time, I will cover what works for each of the body type. Today however, I’ll be talking you through the hour glass woman and what she should do and should not do. The hourglass woman would have….
–the bust and hip approximately the same size and the waist will be narrow
–sexy and killer curves. she is considered the perfect figured woman.
–looks like two inverted triangles. Here’s one….
The hourglass woman should stay clear of fabrics that increase bulk or boxiness on her body. Instead look for pieces that draws attention to her narrow waist.
In this post, I have selected a few pieces the hourglass woman should wear to accentuate her perfect silhouette.
A structured jacket and a flared trousers : the trousers/pants keeps the bottom portion of her legs in balance with her wide/broad hips.
The jacket is very structured and draw in towards her waist. This is the perfect jacket for the hour glass woman. Also the hourglass woman can wear short jackets that stops just above her hips. It will help accentuate her curves in a flattering way.
Other jackets the hourglass woman can wear include belted jackets and classic trench style jackets.
A peep toe pair of heels completes the look as the flared trousers/pant would have elongated her legs already. This look is suitable for work, fashion events and anywhere she wants to.
The Pencil Skirt and a fitted Shirt: since we have established that the hour glass woman should wear tops that help cinch the waist, I chose a peplum top/shirt/blouse and added a belt to the waist to help accentuate her figure and flatter her body. The hourglass woman should never shy away from showing off her narrow/tiny waist.
The Pencil Skirt hugs her curves and make things streamlined showing off her perfect shape.
A pair of pumps completes the look. This look is suitable for work, business meetings and all professional environment.
A Dress with Overlapping Wrap Detail: this type of stretchy fabric helps cinch in her waist without adding extra volume to her burst. She should ensure that the line/joining on the dress sits directly on her natural waistline. If it sits below her waist, it will make her upper body longer and her lower body shorter. She can add a bolero if she feels uncomfortable leaving her arms bare.
A killer heels to show off her legs as there is an overlap on the dress. A nude pair of pointy toe heels would also work well for this look as it will elongate her legs even further.
This look is suitable for weddings, dates and all occasions where she wants to look glamourous.
A Bootcut Denim and Frilled Peplum Blouse/Top and a Belt: this look is my favorite one out of the four. I love the boot cut jeans on the hourglass woman. It helps elongate her legs and does not make her hips look wider or bigger.
She should only wear skinny jeans if her legs are super long. She can also pair them with heels.
The top also helps show off her narrow waist and the frill on the peplum falls smoothly on her hips to help balance the perfect proportion of her body.
I added a medium width belt to even show off her tiny waist better.
A pointy toe ankle boots completes the look and a necklace to draw attention to her neckline. This look is perfect for brunch, date nights, birthday parties and every occasion where she wants to look casual but chic.
She can incorporate any kind of makeup she wants to any of the look.
OTHER THINGS THE HOUR GLASS WOMAN SHOULD KNOW
-wear skinny belts or medium width belt only as wide belt would shorten your upper body/torso.
-use the right necklaces to draw attention to her neckline like I did with the denim styling. A necklace that is too long may make her chest look larger.
-Wearing flat shoes would make her look thick and short. Heels would help elongate her legs and create a better proportion for her body.
–Never wear bottom with too many details on the hip area as this would make her hips wider than it actually is.
-Finally, if she would rather be thin/slim than curvy, she should wear darker colors and vertical stripes.
