ST PATRICK’S DAY ::: RIPPED DENIM & SLOUCHY JUMPER

It is that time of the year again when we celebrate the St Patrick’s day. Last year, I went all formal in my skirt-suit with “Shamrock”, this year I decided to go edgier while still incorporating the Irish flag colours into my look.

More than the fun look, I am mindful of the effect of the Coronavirus and the cancellation of all parades in Ireland and everywhere in the world. I am truly emphatic to those who go all out to celebrate the St. Patricks day in one parade or the other.
Please, lets look at the bright side of things by knowing that this is a significant day in the Irish history and let us use this opportunity to pray for peace in the world, will you join me?
I am also very hopeful that there would be some breakthrough with research and medicine to find a cure for this Covid-19, soon.
For now, let us all stay safe by following the prescribed cautionary measures and be our brother’s / sisters keeper.

African Print Like Stella Jean Design

I am not surprised that many people are asking me if my dress is by Stella Jean because as soon as I saw this Ankara print in Balogun market in Lagos, it reminded me of the bright and vibrant print Stella uses for her designs and so, I bought it. So, to answer the curiosity, No, this dress is not by Stella Jean but just like it did you, it sure reminds me of her very colourful designs.

Like I mentioned earlier, I got the print in Lagos-Nigeria in Balogun market and I got my Tailor (DNK Design) to make it for me. In Nigeria, I guess just like anywhere in the world, this is called made-to-measure whereby the Tailor takes your measurement and makes the style to fit your specifications. If you like, call it customized or exclusive, you would be very right.

The 2 Piece Set that Would Take You to WORK, BRUNCH & CHURCH

I know the blog title sounds funny but sincerely, recently, I have been very mindful of what I buy. Like never before, I am very mindful of picking up pieces that I can wear, re-wear/restyle and take to very many occasions. As you know, my aim with the blog is not only to share what I wear but to ensure to teach you my dear readers how to shop less, wear more and save more. This year 2020, we continue of that journey of wearing more and saving more. Let’s do this people….

How to Wear an All Black Ensemble – How to SLAY in Black

Black is the darkest hue in the colour spectrum and can be worn by all skin tone no matter how dark the person is. Think of Alek Wek, the legendary super model in an all black ensemble. Wek has one of the darkest skin tones in the world of modelling and when she wears black, she rocks it like its hot.

The truth is many people shy away from black, especially people of colour but I tell you, again, no matter how dark your skin is, you can rock black chic…..

ANKARA Print Lookbook – The Print that is Taking Over the World

The Ankara print comes in different patterns, designs, colours and texture. They are very popular in West Africa and more common amongst the Yorubas. However, it is important to know that the most popular tribes in Nigeria (igbo, hausa and yoruba) all wear the Ankara print. They are also popular amongst many other African countries but some prints are more peculiar to those countries like the Kente print which is very popular in Ghana.

Ankara is not only limited to Africans in Africa but many Africans in diaspora including Black Americans have embraced the print. The likes of Beyonce, Rihanna and Anna Wintour have been seen wearing the Ankara print.

Headbands – The Biggest Fashion Trend to Try Now & My Outfit of the Day

Trends come and go like they say but I have learnt that new trend is what makes fashion and style more fun and dynamic. Since headbands became a thing again, I have been accessorising my looks with them. Headbands remind me of those days when I couldn’t style my hair without one. Although every year headbands are sold in shops as normal but this time, they are a big fashion trend and they are everywhere – high street (more affordable) and high end (luxury).

My Family Affair – A Little Rant, Confessions and Photos

Our son turns 15 today and we are truly grateful for the love of the Father in our lives. Not only am I celebrating his birthday, as a Mum, I am truly grateful to God for the kind, humble, smart, focused, loving and compassionate son God has given to us. He rubs off on his brother, leading by example. I have watched him take charge and stepped in numerously to help his brother in so many ways – homework, conduct, guidance and much more. I remember being sick one time and I was shocked by how this child of mine took care of me – even though I wasn’t well and I needed care, I couldn’t help but think of how he took care of me – tucked me in to bed and watched me sleep off till he went to his room. He is all these and more, but let me stop here. Truly grateful for his life.

What I Wore to a Nigerian Wedding + How to Avoid a Bad Tailoring Experience In Lagos

Being a Yoruba-Nigerian, weddings are an exceptionally important part of our Culture. Firstly, in the Yoruba culture, when there is a wedding, most of the time, the family hosting the wedding and or their friends choose what is called aso-ebi (some sort of “uniform” for the occasion). Secondly, a Yoruba-Nigerian do not just attend weddings, we attend them in grand style. Thirdly, we have so much fun at Nigerian weddings (in general) with so much to eat, drink and great music to dance to.

I have been in Lagos for my Brother-in law’s daughter’s wedding and this is one of the outfits I wore for the ceremony. Yep, in this post, I will be sharing the details of the look with you and I will also be sharing how to avoid a bad tailoring experience with you….
