Welcome back to people and products this week. People and product on the Mojintouch blog is a series where I share people who are trending or made impact in the current week and products trending or the ones I would recommend to you in the current week.
Today on People and product this week, I celebrate IMAN as she turns 60.
Iman whose full name is Iman Mohammed Abdul Majid and commonly or professionally known as Iman. The wife and mother of two is an American-Somali model, actress and entrepreneur. she is a pioneer in the field of ethnic cosmetics. Iman is also notable for her charitable work.
Iman has inspired, influenced and encouraged many women all over the world with her career. If I do say so myself, she has paved way for many women of colour in the modeling world including my self. Her career and her story has inspired me as a woman.
Iman came to the US from Kenya in 1975 when Peter Beard took a photo of her. Peter showed the photo to Wilhelmina Cooper who called Iman and invited her to the US to be a model. That was how she tasted fame for the first time.
A designer like YSL idolizes Iman and he dedicated one of his collection; the african queen to her. Her beauty also landed her two movies roles in the 80’s. She featured in Out of Africa and No way out. Iman has gone ahead to build successful businesses like the Iman Cosmetics, Iman global chic/HSN and Iman Home fabrics.
Iman to me is beautifully gone with the wind Fabulous, I want to be like her when I grow up.
Product of the Week !
From the left we have…….
Bianca, Margherita , Tats, Charlotte, Eugine and the lip gloss is called the crystal glass gloss in Lena.
The Giambattista Valli lipsticks made in collaboration with Mac Cosmetics are finally here. When the announcement was made last year that there was going to be a collaboration, I thought wow and was looking forward to the collection.
Giambattista Valli is well known designer for gorgeous dresses but when the offer of creating products that dresses the lips came up, She told Vogue and I quote…..The best thing about make-up is that a lipstick can really change your look. If you never wear colour on your lips and then one day you wear red, everyone just goes ‘wow!'”
I am happy to announce that I now have the lipstick in Margherita. Margherita is a gorgeous orange lipstick which works magic on my skin tone.
All the lip sticks retails for 17 pounds and the lip gloss retails for 19 pounds. You can buy them on line on the Mac’s website. Amazingly, they are all sold out online but you should be able to buy them in stores hopefully.
That’s it from me this week on people and products this week. I hope you liked it as much as I enjoyed creating this series.
So tell me, which one of this lipsticks would you fancy? Would love to hear from you.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Much Love, Mojisola.
