As I walked to the very front to receive my award on graduation day, I knew all eyes were on me. That sounds boastful BUT truly that was the case. I am a 5 ft 11 – “thin” woman and with my yellow dress, I wore a 5 inches heels which made me 6ft + tall. I was nothing short of a super model…..
Okay, as soon as the occasion (graduation ceremony) was over, one of my Lecturers, a former Buyer with Burberry came to me and said, “MJ, everyone was looking at you and talking about you. You looked amazing in that YELLOW dress. You looked so tall and stunning, like a Super model”….
I smiled and said, I knew that. We got talking and I told her WHY I choose the dress. Today, I want to share with you why I wore this old dress and some styling TIPS for you….
Outfit of the Day :: This Yellow Dress!
My dress today is not one you haven’t seen before. I first wore it on the blog in April of 2016 and the look was featured on Bronze Magazine. So, for this look, I wore this yellow fitted dress paired with a camel coat and to finish the look, I wore a pair of heels that matched my coat and finished my look with my Damier Ebene Speedy 35. And voila that is my look of the day.
I was Wearing
Zara Dress (old)
Christian Louboutin Cornielle 100mm
Louis Vuitton Speed 35 in Damier Ebene (I have a video on the full review coming soon)

Why I Wore the Dress + Styling TIPS!
One style philosophy I would encourage you to incorporate into your daily styling life is to PLAN. Plan your looks ahead and you would be surprised at how gorgeous you would look every day.
Reason 1 for wearing this dress
So, I first researched the colour of the robe we were going to be wearing on the day and I got to know it was black. And because I didn’t want to look like a “Nun”, I knew colour was the way to go. I wanted a look that would brighten up my face and day. Yellow brightens up every where. It is almost like bringing your own sunshine with you, every where you go.
Reason 2 for wearing the dress
Firstly, I knew this dress fits me well. It accentuates my body in a classy way and so, this was my first why.
Secondly, I knew many people would be wearing black so, I wanted to stand out from the crowd. Yep, it worked. See my post on how to stand out as a wedding guest HERE
Thirdly, that colour is amazing for my skin tone, so why not?
Reason 3 for wearing the dress
My husband had travelled for about 2 weeks and I wanted him to come “home” to some sunshine + the dress is one of his favourites too, so why not? He arrived late to the venue because he returned on the morning of graduation and when he saw me, he said, “girl, you look amazing, wow, really nice”.
That for me, was better than the honours I got on the day! 🙂
Ladies, you have to make the men look forward to something. Never slip on that 🙂
Reason 4 for wearing the dress ::: Save money & Time
Well that reason is the least but I am glad I wore the dress because I didn’t bother to look for another one to buy which saves me time and I didn’t spend money which saves me money 🙂
Sincerely, if we all can put a little bit more effort into planning out what we wear, we would all look amazing, saving tonnes of money, time and of course making the men in our lives excited. 🙂
When re-rocking an old outfit, try different hair, accessories and make up. This was what I did, I wore my hair differently compared to what I did before and I wore different accessories – earrings, coat and bag.

I want to thank you so much for stopping by today and for reading. I do hope you enjoyed the look and was inspired to re-wear and re-rock your wardrobe. It saves you money and time and it boosts your creativity.
And finally, generally, colourful dresses is best for graduation because you wear the “dark robe” on top. For Doctorate, it is mostly red robes…..
Keep Styling. Much Love
