I am so excited about this season. Woo hoo!!!
A statement coat is a wardrobe essential. A long camel one like this one I am wearing is a piece that is timeless. It will never go out of style and would never be dated. It can be worn on its own as a dress, can be dressed up and can be dressed down like I will show you soon in a near future post. I must also add that the coat is more than cozy, a perfect “cold combater”
For this look, I wore a skinny jeans and an autumn flora shirt as my canvass. I added a statement coat to dress the look up. The coat came with its own belt but I detached the belt and attached another belt unto it to glam it up and most importantly to cinch in my waist. I am a very tall and thin woman so it is important for me not to loose my frame.
Adding a belt does that magic for me especially on this kind of oversized coat. For people who are of average height/not so tall, I would recommend a knee length coat. Check here to learn how to choose the perfect coat for your silhouette.
To add a classic touch to the look, I added a metal floral brooch to the coat to compliment the flora pattern on the shirt. The brooch adds a duchess factor to the look. The duchess of cambridge(Kate Middleton) wear brooches all the time. I love brooches as an accessory in my closet. I love the structured oversized collar of this coat, it is a statement on its own.
The belt is a multitone one and it adds a nice colour contrast to the coat. I especially love the elastin detail, it stretches nice and easy. I also have to mention that I wore the belt front to back. The pocket detail on the coat is gorgeous, I love it and I also use it to keep my hands warm.
To tie the look together, I wore a nude pair of Cornielle. I love this particular pair, they frame my legs and add a very sexy allure to my feet. They are the perfect beige for my skin tone. They are not as comfy as the pigalle though. I wore the pigalle 100 here.
See my article on the power of nudes and why wear them here.
