One of the best things in life is the joy of been a mother. The bond between a mother and a child is not quantifiable.
Ask me how I know? It is because I AM A MOM and proud. In this post, I will share with you clothing you need for during pregnancy and after pregnancy.
The steps to been a mom can really be challenging and long. Another factor is what to wear as the body begins to change and as the bump begins to grow bigger. Not to worry because this look book features a selection of items that will take you from conception to delivery. Whether you are a working mom to be or a stay at home mom to be, this pieces should do the maternity wear job for you. Also this pieces should see you through the weaning /breast feeding months before you get your body back.
Here’s the breakdown
The denim: this should be perfect with any of the casual blouses in the look book. Choose denim that stretch easy. Let your denim have some elastin. This would allow mom to be comfortable without any pressure on the tummy.
Blouses: choose breathable blouses, ones that will accentuate the bump and flow freely.
Skirt: for a working mom to be, choose a skirt that is appropriate for work and comfortable. One that will also accentuate the bump.
The Wrap Dress: this one is about the most important because it can be worn to all occasions from work to church and to hospital appointments. Chose a fabric that is stretchy, the one that stretches as the bump continues to grow. You can buy two of this in different colours. They are the best to look chic while pregnant.
Jumpers/Jackets: it is very important to keep warm and comfortable when pregnant.
Oversized Jumper: this will help you stay cosy and comfy at the weekend with a pair of leggings and flats.
The Maxi Dress: perfect for all occasions. Choose a free flowing one that would accentuate the bump.
Most Importantly, when choosing your clothes when pregnant
-ensure to choose comfortable, breathable and warm clothes(some mom to be catch cold easily).
-choose appropriate level of heels. Make sure you do not wear shoes that will make your feets sore or swell. You can always wear your heels when the baby arrives. It is more important for you and your baby to be safe. Heels can be worn occasionally and also for a short period of time.
After the baby is born
Firstly, you have to remember that your body didn’t change in one day, it took about 8-9 months for your body to change. It will take time for you to get your pre pregnancy body back, so be patient.
Secondly, the clothes you own/were wearing during pregnancy will be handy for now as you continue to nurse the babies. You do not need to buy any for now. If you buy some now and lose more weight in the future then you would have wasted money. The clothes may be a little loose on you after the baby is born but hey, you are a new mom. Enjoy every moment of it.
Thirdly, Take it slow, gentle exercise, breasfeeding and healthy living are part of the ways you can get your body back.
Other Important Facts
-drink lots of fluid/water and eat healthily. This helps with weight control before and after the birth of your baby. It also helps with the health of the baby.
-do not invest in too many maternity clothing as you wouldn’t be needing them any more once the baby is born. For a first time mom, you can keep them for future use i.e. if you intend to have more than one child.
-you can add other accessories you fancy to the look book.
In summary this 10 clothing pieces will definitely take you through conception to delivery.
If you are expecting a baby or intend to have one soon, I wish you all the best.
