Finding the right smart casual outfits for work can be understandably difficult. It’s hard to play around with your wardrobe without settling for the same bland options over and over but these five outfit ideas are sure to inject some fun into your work wardrobe.
A Suit for the Smarter Days
You can never go wrong with a good power suit. It doesn’t have to be too smart or official – a block colour co-ord with a blazer and trousers is enough to make an impact, but keep you comfortable at the same time. Consider red, lilac or blue for a striking yet suitable look which is perfectly suited to a work environment.
Try a cropped trouser instead of a full-length one to make the look more casual without compromising on the smarter side. Make sure it is fitted too – a baggy, ill-fitting power suit simply looks sloppy. Instead, ensure it’s tailored perfectly for you so you remain comfortable whilst looking stylish.
A Plain Tee and Trousers
Although it sounds considerably conservative, a plain tee and trousers is actually one of the most versatile outfits for work you could opt for. You can play with colours, prints and patterns – try a plain white tee with some patterned trousers for an outfit that’s comfortably casual yet smart enough for work.
This outfit will also allow you to accessorise and play with layers, jewellery and outerwear – but the basics remain the centrepiece. Try a French tuck with your tee to add a stylish flair to your work outfit.
French Tuck on a Skirt
Jumper, Jeans and Boots
As we’re approaching Winter, it makes sense to opt for a warmer, cosier outfit which still looks good at work. A jumper and knee-high boot combo hits the perfect sweet spot of smart casual, looking appropriate for the office whilst giving you warmth and comfort during the colder months.
A jumper always works well with some skinny jeans – try bold block colours to switch things up and inject a bit of vivacity into the dreary winter season. Pair it with some boots for a warm yet vibrant outfit that’s still suitable enough to wear in the office.
Blouse and Skirt
A staple outfit choice for work, you simply cannot go wrong with a blouse and skirt. Again, it’s an outfit which has the potential to be extremely diverse with different cuts, prints and colours – whether you want a pencil skirt or something a bit longer, this combo works very well as workwear.
Play with prints and patterns on either your blouse or your skirt. Don’t do it with both, as you’ll run the risk of clashing, but making a statement with a bold design on one piece will make for a more striking and bold outfit for work than the norm.
Tucked in Shirt and Trousers
For something a bit less conventional, why not opt for a shirt? As opposed to a blouse, a shirt is often more formal – but many high street names are embracing it for ladies’ fashion, making for a new smart casual outfit option which you can be early to.
Try the French tuck with this outfit, as mentioned – it adds a unique flair to the combo which is certain to make an impression. It’s smart yet playful, and is an indication that you’re a forward thinking and fun individual, which are all good qualities for a colleague.
