I did a little bit of shopping from one of my favourite high street stores – Zara about 2 weeks ago but didn’t have the chance to sit down to film a review video for you. I made some time last Friday to film the video and on this blog, I will be sharing the video with you and why shopping the end of season sale is best for you, your budget and style.
I know once a new season launches, we all want to wear the trending fashion pieces. We go ahead and buy those pieces like it is a must and some of us go out of our ways to buy those pieces. It shouldn’t have to be so. Here are 5 reasons why you should be shopping the end of season sale:
1. You Get the Chance to Save Some Money
Whenever the new collection launches in stores and online at full price, retailers sell with a margin called mark up. In simple words, they put a price over the cost of making those products so they can maximise profits. After a while, they reduce the price of the clothes called – Mark Down, which means, they have reduced the price of the item without loosing their own profit ( a lot of times). So what this means is when you buy on sale, stores still make profit.
For you to save money, you don’t have to pay full price if you want to save some money for other projects other than buying clothes. If you can, wait till the end of the season to buy piece you want and not need
Want: You want it just because you want it. e.g. a blouse because it is on trend
Need: It is a must have. e.g a Coat if you don’t have one for cold season.
2. You Still Have Time to Wear the “In Thing”
Once a new season is approaching, many retailers put their old season merchandise on sale. Although the new season is just around the corner, the weather still permits you to wear pieces from the old season. For example, Summer is winding down now but you can still wear Summer clothes. So, to save money, you can leave your shopping till end of each season to shop the sale. It is like the best of both worlds where you buy cheaper and you still get the chance to wear a trend.
3. Stores Are Not Nice to You But to You Cards / Money
Like I said above, retailers mark up their products to make money. If you are shopping in stores for example, Customer Service Advisors are nice to you because they want you to buy as much as your credit or debit or money can take you. They also want you to come back over and over again, even if you really don’t have the money to spend. So, stores are nice to your debit cards or credit cards or money so they can make money off you. Think about it, what will you loose if you don’t buy that new blouse? Ehm, nothing!. Trust me, you can never save too much money.
4. Take Old Season Pieces to New Season.
You can strategically shop the sale so the pieces can take you from one season to another. For example, when shopping the end of Summer sale, select pieces that you can wear not just for that season but ones that would take you to the next season. For example, see the video of my end of Summer sale below. Those pieces were strategically selected so I could wear them now and wear them in the Autumn and then Winter. This will save you so much money.
End of Season Sale!
These pieces were strategically selected to take me from this season to the next. Instead of spending almost 500 euros, I spent less than 100. Do check it out…….you may find something you like
5. Sale Season is the Time to Stock Up
We all have things we love and want but when they first launch, the prices are just too much. During the sale season, you can stock up on those things to last you a long time. For example, you love this amazing design of socks or vests or underwear. You would notice that those are things we use on regular basis. Items like these are things you can stock up on during the sale season so you don’t have to buy them again until the next sale season, if you need to.
Pieces I Bought on Clearance Sale
I bought this Trench Coat in Paris at the Gap store in February 2017 and I still have it now. It was originally €129.99 but I paid €29.99 for it. I have worn it as a coat and as a dress as seen HERE
I got this gorgeous Palazzo Pants in the February of 2016 for €9.99 instead of €49.99 and I wore it again in April of 2018 as seen HERE. It is still as new as ever and I can’t wait to style it again…..
For me, the idea for shopping the sale is to save yourself some coins. If you can save it, why waste it? I just want to thank you so much for stopping by and for reading. I do hope you found this post helpful. If you did, please share it with your friends and family.
May You Save More. You can never save too much. Amen Somebody.
Much Love, Mojisola
