Mustard is not quiet yellow, it is however a shade of yellow that is dull or dark. It resembles culinary mustard. So, mustard is the colour of the sauce you get on your favourite street or kiosk hot dog.
Mustard is the perfect alternative to yellow for people who don’t like to wear yellow because it is too bright. Because mustard is a darker shade of yellow, it suits all skin tone. In fact, I can say that you do not need to wear tan before you wear mustard.
Today’s Outfit of the Day!
For my look today, I was wearing an old scuba skirt with a mustard jumper and to break the all round yellow look, I wore a tan and gold belt and finished the look with gold ankle sandal booties. Voila, my outfit of the day…
This look is perfect for church – because I wore it to church the other day. It is also perfect as a work wear depending on where you work – just change your shoes to a classic pumps (heels or flats).

5 Ways to Style Mustard
I had to dig into my photo archive to get a look to blog for today. While looking through my media on the blog, I realised I have a few looks I could incorporate into today’s blog and this was how I came about the topic “5 ways to style Mustard”….
Now, let’s check out some of my favourite for your inspiration.
Pants – Suits
This look was the one I wore to a speaking engagement a while back and I shared more styling details HERE. If you are looking for an alternative to black pants-suits, mustard is just fine for this season.
I was wearing: Zara Pants-Suit | Mattew Willaimson Scarf | Christian Louboutin Cornielle Heels
Dress Up
If you are new to the blog, you are very welcome but if you are not, you probably are familiar with this dress already. I have worn it more than enough times to now call it old, even though it is just 2 years old. I have worn it to Work, to Church and even to my Graduation.
If you are also looking for the perfect alternative to the little black dress for this season, a mustard one like this would do…..
I was wearing: Zara Dress & Christian Louboutin Cornielle Heels
Casual
I wore this look on a bad hair day, hence the scarf. So if you are having a bad hair day, a bright enough look with a scarf would do the magic for you.
Just like I did on today’s outfit, I wore a pair of tan sandals to tone down the very bold colour. I shared more helpful TIPS on managing a bad hair day HERE
I was wearing: H&M Top & Pants | Micheal Kors Sandals | Zara Scarf | Top Shop Belt
Pretty Skirt
The skirt I wore for today’s look is one of my favourites and I have also worn it so many times. So, for my next look, I want to show you how to style mustard with other colours. Green and Yellow / Mustard are analogous colours – i.e. they sit next to each other on the colour wheel so they can be worn together..
For this look, I wore this scuba skirt with a green blouse. You can pair your own pieces whichever way you fancy, just inject the core colours – mustard and green
I was wearing: H&M Trend Skirt & Top | Christian Louboutin Cornielle Heels
Mustard Blazer
You can also style your mustard casually with jeans. For this look, I paired it with a cropped white denim. Have fun with yours.
I was wearing Beshka Jeans | Next Basic Tee | Zara Bag | H&M Flats | H&M Blazer
Mustard to me goes with everything. You can style it with so many other colours. Let’s see Purple & Brown….
I was wearing: Next Dress (as skirt) & Zara High Neck Blouse
I was wearing: River Island Skirt | Zara High Neck Blouse | Christian Louboutin Cornielle Heels
There are so many other ways to style mustard but this time, I decided to share just “5 ways to style Mustard”. So, go ahead and try out yours whichever you fancy. So, if you do not like yellow or you think it would not suit your skin tone, try mustard, it is cooler than yellow (not as bright) and suits all skin tone. Do have fun with your own mustard colour this season.
I want to thank you so much for stopping by today and for reading. I do hope you found inspiration from all the styling.
Do take care & Much Love

Hello, yellow beauty! You look gorgeous in mustard yellow! It’s such a pretty shade and it’s a color that can be worn all year round. I love all 5 looks especially the last one because the purple just pops! Hope you’re having a great start to the week!
