I love whites of different shades, there is no doubt about that but I love wearing colours too, especially in the “darker months” – I mean Winter when the days get darker quicker – this simply is to help brighten up my look and day if you like….
Today, I have this look book for you and TIPS on what analogous colours are…..
Outfit of the Day – Frilled Skirt and Body!
For my look today, I was wearing this incredibly gorgeous frilled skirt styled with a body suit and to help finish the look, I wore a pair of mustard heels and a be-jewelled belt in a neutral colour completes my look and also helps to accentuate my waist. And voila, my outfit of the day!
A Quick Styling TIP!
When styling a frilled skirt like this one, because it is busy already, it is best to keep the top plain and simple if this is your kind of style. However, if you love to go over the top, feel free to have fun by adding more prints or pattern or another frilled piece to style your own frilled skirt. See two ways I styled the similar skirt below…….
What is Analogous Colours?
Analogous colours are colours that lie side by side of each other on the colour wheel. For example, yellow and green are analogous colours because they lie side by side on the colour wheel. So, in my look today, I paired my green shirt with a yellow / mustard shoes to create an analogous colour scheme….
Also, you may or may not see it, but on my shoes, there is green and purple details as accent on those shoes, the designer of the shoes (Fabrizio Zitti – Louis Vuitton Creative Designer) used the flower details as accent on those shoes to create an analogous colour story…
So, when you want to achieve a look with analogous colours, think of the colour wheel and any colours that are adjacent of each other on the colour wheel and that would be analogous colours. If you would like me to do more colour demo. here on the blog with look books, do leave me your comments below and I will…..
Wearing colours can be daunting for some but when you take a moment to study the colour wheel and many colour stories in different magazines, you will begin to enjoy putting colours together and wear more colours, especially now when the days are darker, a.k.a Autumn / Fall / WINTER.
A while ago, I created another look featuring analogous colour story with neutral accessories just like today’s look book. See it below and I hope this helps you understand the analogous colours a little bit better
I want to thank you so much for stopping by and for reading. I do hope you enjoyed the look and I hope you learnt a little bit more about analogous colours and most importantly, I hope you create a look trying out this analogous colour scheme. If you ever create a look with this colour scheme, do tag me on Instagram. I would love to see your look. 🙂
