The basic tee as a fashion piece is categorised as a casual wear. However, the fact that a piece is categorized as casual doesn’t mean you can’t glam it up or dress it up…..with the right style pieces and accessories. So, without further ado, let me show you how to dress up a basic tee up…..
Outfit of the Day ::: Basic Tee & Camel Cotton Scout Skirt
For my outfit today, I was wearing a basic tee with a camel cotton scout skirt with button detail. To finish my look, I wore a nude pair of heels to give this casual look a chic and dressy vibe. And voila, this is my look of the day.
I wore this look to a formal meeting the other day with a cropped blazer to give it more of a formal appeal. If I can say so myself, this look will take you from desk to brunch or to dinner…..
By the way, if you want to take your basic tee to the next level, a good fitted and structured blazer would do the magic for you.

How to Choose the Best Basic Tee
Fit is Key: If you want your basic tee to look dressy, choose one that fits your silhouette like a glove. For example, look at the one I have on in this post, it fits like a glove. Fitted but not tight is the best way to go in chosing your basic tee.
Choose the Right Cut: When it comes to basic tee, you can go for a round neck or v-neck. I personally love round neck but I ensure that the round neck is high neck and sits well on my neckline. That would make your tee shirt look expensive and sleek.
Invest in a Good One: When it comes to basic tee, choose one whose fabric is soft with a little bit of stretch. For example, 100% cotton is good or 99% cotton with 1% elastin. With a composition like that, your tee shirt does not only fit well but washes well (durable). Don’t get it twisted, you can get a good basic tee like that for a little as 10.00 euros. The one I have on in this post was 9.99 from Zara and it has washed really well because I have worn it severally.
The key to choosing the best basic tee is to choose one with the right fabric and then the right fit. This makes a lot of difference in the durability and overall fit of your basic tee.
The basic tee can be dressed up or down and the possibility of the basic tee is endless. Pair yours with jeans and sneakers for Casual Friday or a well fitted skirt like the one I have on for a business meetings or for brunch and it’s all good. Whatever you do, have fun with your basic tee.
