When I wear green or share any look books in green, I get comments like, green is truly your colour; you wear green really well; green looks well on your skin tone and so on. I realise a lot of people love green on me BUT not every shades of green works on all skin tone. So, today, I want to share the true meaning of green with you and the right shades of green you should be wearing for your skin tone.
This is going to be more of a look book for your style inspiration and of course with a little bit of styling TIPS and more tips on maximising your closet. Before we do that, today is the Ist of October and Nigerian’s Independence day. Happy Independence day Nigeria! (Please see more on this below)
And back to the best GREEN for Your Skin tone:
Look 1: “Boss Lady”
This photo is still one of my favourite and if I could I would frame it up and put it somewhere in our home. May be some time soon.
This look mimics the green background, it is almost like a set. It is just a random spot we found and did photos at.
For this look, I wore a palazzo pants with a floral blouse and finished the look with burnt orange sandals, gold accessories and a red lip colour finishes the look.
This is a look that can take you from day to night. It is bold and chic.

Look 2: Diana Ross
The 80’s was all about the big hair, palazzo and sequins. In this look, I combined all the good stuff in the 80’s in one look. It reminds me a Diana Ross or some sort of Disco dancer.
This look would be perfect for a night out, drinks or dinner or even a dance…It is so 80’s but so current
By the way, I wore the same trousers and shoes as the look above. It is important to learn to maximise your closet. It saves you so much money and makes you very creative.

The Meaning of Green and What Green Should You be Wearing?
Green is the colour between blue and yellow on the spectrum. The first thing that comes to mind when you think of green is grass or emeralds. Green can be a tricky colour to wear but everyone can wear green.
Green is the colour of life, renewal, growth and energy. It can also stand for peace/harmony, safety and environment. Green is also associated with money and ambition. If I ever think of including colour to my branding, it would have a touch of green because of the character of green.
If you have a warm skin tone (red undertone), especially people of colour, all shades of green would work for your skin tone. The kinds of green as seen in the first two photos above and the one I have on in the next picture below. Green is good on people with warm undertone as you can see on my skin tone. I am dark enough if I can say so myself.
If you have a cool skin tone (yellow undertone), especially people with pale skin, darker shades of green would work best on your skin tone. This would compliment your already pale skin. If you have to wear a bright shade of green like the one below, tan may be an option to explore so you do not look “ghostly” in your choice of green.
Mint Green
Mint green is a shade of pastel. It is not too far from white if I can explain it like that. All skin tone can rock pastel or mint green especially in the Summer. It is cool but cool enough for all skin tone.
Look 3: Wedding Guest
This was the dress I wore to a Summer wedding. In this post, I shared tips on how to stand out from the crowd in any occasion, be it a wedding or any other occasion. You can see full details HERE
Thank you all for your kind comments on this look especially on Facebook. We got so many interaction on this look.
Look 4: Not Quite a Dress
When I shared this look, a lot of people especially the people who didn’t bother to read the blog thought it was a dress. It isn’t a dress, it is a 2-piece that I combined together.
I absolutely love how this one turned out.
Still on Maximising, Let me show you the complete set….
This is the complete set of the skirt above. I paired the skirt with the blouse to create another look. See below for the blouse with another skirt…..
Blouse Above with Another Skirt. A bright one this time….

Look 5: That Blouse Again
I wore this look to church the other day and I paired it with a different shoes all together. I wanted to show you that it is possible to style your blouse in more than one way. In this case, I have worn this blouse in up to 3 ways.
Fashion Blogger TIP: you do not have to give yourself unnecessary pressure to buy something new all the time. You can show your audience how to style their wardrobe in multiple ways. People love this…….

Happy styling my friends.

Motivation for the Month of October on Video: FREEDOM!
Home they say is where the heart is….. For me, Nigeria will always be home. Today is Nigerian’s Independence Day and the reason for all things green.
Happy Independence day Nigeria. God bless you and restore your lost glory.
As you also know, I share a motivation video on the first day of every month and today is no exception even though it is a Sunday. It is my commitment to you and I am not changing it. It is also Integrity to myself. I want to encourage you to stick with your plans, no matter what the day of the week is; it is integrity to self that brings good rewards. That was by the way:)
Freedom is to be at liberty, to be at peace and to be able to soar without restrictions. This video, I recorded approximately 3 years ago and it is very timely for today’s Motivation speaking about Freedom linked to Nigeria’s Independence day. It focuses on 5 areas of Freedom: Emotional Freedom, Physical Freedom, Financial Freedom, Spiritual Freedom & Social Freedom. Please watch, it will set you FREE indeed.

You do look good in green. I never used to wear much green, but then I discovered that it was really just a case of not having the right green for me, like you said. Now, I love a nice, bright green outfit!

Happy Independence day to you 🙂
Green is such a great color and we’re lucky that we can wear just about any shade of green. I’m all about trying to maximize my wardrobe, re-working pieces wherever I can. As much as I l would love to buy new pieces all the time it’s just not possible nor is it practical. So, I love all your fabulous tips. Thanks for sharing another great motivational video.
Hope you’re having a great week so far.
