I count it all joy when I find pieces that could be worn in more than one season. This dress is an example of what I mean. It is perfect for now (fall) and can also be worn when the weather gets colder (Winter).
It is also one of the patterns I love ; houndstooth. I am in that phase now where houndstooth appeals to me. I also paired it with grid here and shred TIPS on how to pair print on print.
The cut of this dress is very flattering and the fabric is bandage in texture or body con. It hugs the body graciously and adds curves in the right places. It is also very warm.
I had to go a size up because it is not true to size. I am normally a Uk size 6-8 but the one I have on is a size 10. Size eight would have been too tight and too tight will be tacky. Always remember, there is always a thin line between fitted and tight. Fitted is always classier.
I have the dress styled in two ways. Both styling could be worn for Fall and the later with some warmer style pieces could be worn in the Winter.
Look 1 : the houndstooth dress worn with a camisole and look finished with my pom pom detail sandals and blazer hanging down the shoulder.
Look 2 : the houndstooth dress with same camisole and tall boots and blazer hanging on the shoulder.
I highly recommend this dress to every woman who want to build curves. The tailoring is genius.
Fashion TIP today !
There is a fine or thin line between fitted and tight. Tight in most cases could be tacky so when choosing a dress that is fitted and “bandagey” in texture or body con, it is best to go for a size up. While tight could be tacky and uncomfortable, fitted is classy every day and any day. It is always good to wear something you can breathe in especially when you go for a meal.
Not only will you be able to breath and have a meal in a correct size fitted dress, you will save yourself the hassle of been body conscious if you have contours you do not like to accentuate. We all know the tummy bulges after a meal, save yourself the trouble of being conscious of that.
And of course adding blazer to any look instantly makes the look refined and polished.
Wear it again in WINTER !
You can wear this kind of dress again in the colder month. Throw on some tall boots or over the knee boots and a jacket of your choice. You can also wear it with tights and ankle boots. You can throw on some gloves, scarfs and any other style piece that can keep you nice and warm.
I love the way my boots fade into the hemline of the dress. It made the look sleeker.
Would love to know which of the pairing is your favourite? Please share your thought with me in the comments below.
