As I prepared for my exams over the holidays, I took on my first two premium “mentees”. They were launching blogs and businesses and needed my help on how to get online – create questionnaires, coin business “terms” together and market products online, send business emails, attract the right clients and on and on….
Sincerely, I didn’t want to take anyone on at the time because I wondered, how on earth would I be able to combine wearing a “mentor’s” hat with exams? BUT? I was confident that I could make it work and so I cracked on….
You see, I do not consider myself someone who would ever be able to do the things I do now. Never!. However, looking back, I could see that I have paid big price in investing in myself, learning things by myself, learning from others and putting in so much work in everything I know.
From one little set back (being made redundant), I discovered who I truly am. See, in life, when we experience set-backs, we can either use the pain to discover ourselves and our WHY’s / Purpose or we can allow those things to keep us stuck. From setbacks, if we truly would let ourselves, we find purpose. This was my story. This blog, Moj In Touch, I started as a fashion blog BUT has now grown beyond what I initially thought. It has grown into purpose….
Purpose of knowing who I am, what I am capable of doing and what I should be doing with my life
Purpose of helping others look and dress well and in other ways.
Purpose of writing effortlessly, not here only but for many brands and businesses from different parts of the world
Purpose of motivational speaking at conference and formal events
Purpose of giving encouraging advice to “Kings”
Purpose of helping others discover their own purpose
Purpose of being a truly bold, confident and faith filled woman
Purpose of living and fulfilling dreams and dreaming bigger
And much more
Listen 1: Your Real Job in Life
Listen, your real job in life is to figure out what it is you were called to do. While you may be in the best job ever, it is important to use your job to figure out what your calling is. While a job is necessary to survive (pay bills, buy houses etc), our job is NOT the reason only why we are here on earth, we are here to find meaning for our lives and fulfil purpose. What you are doing NOW can help you discover that. For me, this was what this blog has done for me.
Whether you blog or not, from your GIFTS, from your natural God-given gifts, you can discover your purpose – the real reason WHY you are here on earth. Some of us are here to help others launch businesses, some of us is to write great books, some of us is to help rescue abused girls, some of use is to create blog contents that would change people’s lives or help others, some of us is to help women whose husbands left, some of us is to cook or cater for events etc. You see, when you find your WHY / PURPOSE, it would make your creativity juice flow, your knowledge would naturally broaden and you would do those things like you are not working. See, your GIFTS would draw you in the direction of your purpose, if you would let yourself.
You can check out my book, “Use What You Have” to learn how to discover your GIFTS and learn how to maximise them.
Lesson 2: Use Set-Backs to Step Up
When you suffer setbacks, don’t stay down. Use setbacks as an opportunity to rise again, to step up and shine. Your husband/wife left, you lost your job, you invested money in business and lost it all etc. No matter what happens, don’t stay down, use your pain to fuel your purpose. Be a “lion” and fight you way through the jungle…..
The only thing that rescued me after I was made redundant was this blog. I am grateful indeed for doing the work to not stay down but to rise. On the 9th of January, 2018 was another milestone for me as I completed my Masters. To me, it was just like yesterday that I started, I didn’t know how I did it but going into it, I knew that I can do it. My husband said to me, “the only time you don’t look forward to finishing anything is when you do not start anything” ….and so I started January 11th 2017.
Lesson 3: Do What You Have to Do
Whatever it is your hands find to do, do it like you are doing it unto God. Do your best. God rewards every hard work we put in. He rewards us. If you think you are doing so much but are not getting anything in return, step back a little, reflect and see if you need to change something. In stillness, we find answers. The God inside of us, speaks, so LISTEN. Ask for help, it makes a lot of different.
Lesson 4: Distractions, Seasons & Uncertainty.
I shared with the ladies in our private Facebook group that for a long time, I focused on the wrong things. For example, leaving my career to raise my kids. Then when I eventually went back to work, I was made redundant. WHAT? Unknown to me, God was preparing me for more….
Until I learnt a lesson about embracing my own journey, embracing my own season and doing what I needed to do, I didn’t do much BUT immediately, I was clear about what I should be doing and at what time, EVERYTHING began to fall in place. EVERYTHING!
I started dreaming bigger
I starting being productive
I started growing
I started saying NO to things that doesn’t concern me or add value to me
I started writing more
I started achieving more, helping others, loving and living life and more.
My friends, I like to share my own story with the hope of helping so many people who would read. Not because I love pitying myself or trying to say, “I have arrived” BUT because, writing this inspiration blogs, is part of my purpose.
Clarity Brought Me Here!
Clarity: to have clarity can be defined with words like being easy to see or hear; sharpness of image or sound.
The only way to GROW, in anything is to be CLEAR. Being clear would help you create a “smooth path” for your journey, no matter where you are headed.
What are you not sure about? About your purpose? About WHY on earth you are here? About your career path? About any area of life? The first thing is to seek God-counsel. “God counsels are good counsels”. Speak to someone who knows, has been on the journey or has made success in the area where you are confused. This makes a lot of difference.
Sincerely, if you can get clarity, you would find your way. Clarity would bring you where you want to be……it was clarity that brought me here!
I want to say a massive thank you to everyone who has helped me on my journey and for you reading this, I want to say, thank you for inspiring me to write more. Thank you.
Do have an awesomely phenomenal week ahead and God bless.
