Getting cleaner and clearer skin is way beyond buying the latest and the most expensive beauty products in the market but doing what works.
While a lot of people will immediately think of the 3 step ritual of washing, moisture restoration or toning and finally moisturising of the skin, getting clearer skin is way more than that.
Not that those 3 options or steps aren’t good, I will share with you 5 unusual ways to get cleaner and clearer skin in this post.
DRINK UP
Drinking tons and tons of water daily is not only good for hydrating your body or aiding digestion. It’s benefit can be seen on the skin. It is recommended that you drink a minimum of 2 litres daily. Why not make the sacrifice to make it 3 litres a day. You will see the result on your skin. Instead of fizzy drinks, drink water. Instead of alcohol, drink tea. Nothing compares to drinking water though.
WORK IT / EXERCISE
Exercise is another way to get cleaner and clearer skin. When you exercise, you sweat. Sweating helps kills all the deadly bacteria that could cause damage to the skin. Ensure to cleanse your skin after exercising so your sweat does not dry up on your face.
When you sweat, you pass out what could end up as spots, acne and breakout on your skin. Exercising aids the circulation of blood and easy movement of your body.
PS : that was the picture I took while heading out to exercise.
EAT WELL
When you eat well, you see the results on your skin especially on your face. Instead of that chocolate doughnut, eat an apple and instead of that noodles, eat lettuce. No I am not saying noodles is bad, I am just saying lettuce is healthier.
THE 3 STEP RITUAL
a, wash you face with a face wash that is rich in moisture. Always use a face wash rich in moisture because you do not want anything too harsh on your face and you do not want to stripe your skin off its natural oils. The face is delicate and the eye area is even more delicate.
b, restore moisture unto your face. You can use your face toner. Different people call it different things. Some call it toner, some call it cleanser. I am talking about that liquid you use on a cotton pad to remove excess or left over make up from your face when you finish washing your face.
c, Moisturise, Moisturise and moisturise more
The thing is you can never ever moisturise your skin too much. There is no such thing as moisturising your skin too much. The advantages are enormous.
- It reduces the appearance of ageing like wrinkles, fine lines etc
- It improves suppleness and evened skin
The below are currently what I use on my skin. You can see full explanation of each on the video below.
The next thing you can include in your skin regimen is to exfoliate when you need to. You do not have to do this every day so you don’t stripe you skin of all the good oils on your skin/face.
You can also have facials regularly. Facials improve blood circulation on your face and of course makes your skin look very youthful.
ALWAYS use products formulated for your skin type. I will share all things skin type with you in the future. I have a combination skin and below is a snap shot of the skin care I currently use. Do you know your skin type ? Would you like an article on different skin types ? Please let me know in the comments below.
SLEEP
Sleeping well is not only good for your skin. It is very good for so many health reasons. When you are well rested, your skin looks way better than when you are not well rested. The under eye looks relaxed and youthful. Eye bags and tired looking face/eyes disappears when you are well rested.
And those are my five TIPS for helping you get clean, clear and healthy skin. I hope you found it helpful.
In the video below, I shared my own skin care regimen and products I will recommend to you.
Combining or following all the steps above will help you get cleaner, clearer and more youthful skin. I hope you find my TIPS helpful. Please let me know in the comments if you did.

Good tips. I honestly need to drink more water, exercise and get more rest. I can’t remember the last time I slept or ate well. For instance, the only meal I had yesterday was at 10:30pm and it was rice. LOL!
One of the reasons I like a platform like this is that we rub minds with one another. Please eat well, rest well and sleep well. Having a meal a day is not good enough. Hydration is very important even if you eat less. Please take care of you beautiful. I will be following up on that girl…ha ha. I am a mama bear so get ready!
Much Love to you

Good tips (and products – I’m a MK lover too!) I’m on a battle right now with myself to cut back on the sugar, which is really bad for your skin as well. (Though I think this is the hardest time of year to do it! Agh!) LOL

Hi Kim,
I know what you mean. Everything in moderation will be ideal. It takes time for us to let go of habits we are used to. Little by little and no pressure helps. Glad you find the post helpful. And yes, MK is good. I have used it for years. Take care of you and thanks for stopping by.
