CHASING SHADOWS
One of the reasons why I blog is to be able to connect with people from all around the world. Thankfully I have been able to connect with blog users / readers from more than enough countries. As far as Australia is to Ireland, we have people who visit the blog from there daily. A massive thank you to all the Moj in Touch readers from far and near. Much Love to you.
Anytime, I see a new user on the Moj in Touch blog, I try to see if they are Bloggers themselves and I do my best to connect with them by visiting their blogs. Some times, such people keep in touch and sometimes, they do not. It is not a problem at all if they don’t keep in touch. I personally believe the more the merrier.
I have met so many people from the Blogging world just by keeping in touch. I have basically become friends to some of these Bloggers and if I don’t see them in a couple of days, I send them e-mails or send them comments through their blogs to check up on them.
Building relationships is more than just visiting other Bloggers blogs, it is showing genuinely that you truly care.
Caring for others is one character successful people have!
We truly need people in the real world as much we need them on social media and it doesn’t matter where we meet them. What matters is if we are able to connect with them and influence them positively. If we can change people’s lives with or by what we do then we are meeting a need and fulfilling purpose. It is my prayer everyday that through me, people’s lives are changed.
Why Chasing Shadows? The problem is when a Blogger like me starts giving me the “I am better than you attitude”. What is that?
Some of them believe because they have been blogging longer than you that they know better than you or because they have a massive following on Social media than you that they are better than you. No, that is not always the case. Any body can know anything if they learn more about the thing. No, I don’t know everything and that was why I talked about why i always ask people who know more than me in blogging mistakes part 2.
Some of these “I am better than you Bloggers”………
1, will not reply to comments when you leave them one.
2, will not like or acknowledge comments and they will not reach out or visit your blog. That is rude in my humble opinion.
No, you do not have to visit your commenters blog but acknowledge them by at least liking their comments. You can not force people to do things the way you do them but if you are not too busy to put out another post then you can’t be too busy to acknowledge, or like peoples comments. Do one at least if not both. A shout out or general thank you from time to time will be ideal too. Did you notice I chipped in a thank you at the start of this blog? It is just a simple courtesy which wouldn’t take anything away from you or cost you anything.
It is different when you have thousands and thousands of readers from around the world. I have seen “Big Bloggers” who respond to chains of comments on their blog. No, they may not be doing the replying themselves but they have made it a point of duty to have some one who does that on their behalf. It is a simple way of appreciating their readers time and support. I know Christelle Lim for one in case you are wondering.
Instead of chasing shadows; “the I am better than you crew”, I face my work and attract the people who truly appreciate my work, what I do and what I stand for. I advise you to face your work especially if you are a Blogger just starting out. Reach out but don’t leak asses. Pardon my French!
Always have in mind that NOT every body will like your style of writing or what you write or talk about.
What matters is being true to yourself and the people who are interested in you will find in you due time and when they do, they stay.
Until those people who truly love your work finds you, keep working and keep mastering your craft and focus on creating GREAT contents; so they can have what to read when they eventually find you. Another thing to do religiously is to SHARE, SHARE and SHARE your contents on your social media. The more people see you, the more they want to know what you are up to. And also know that If you truly take the time to support people genuinely without expecting anything back, it will come back to you. Life is all about giving and taking.
I believe that rewards come when we work hard so stop chasing shadows and keep working. Hard work pays off!

LIKERS & COMMENTERS
Another experiment I decided to try here on Moj in Touch is that I physically deactivate the like button on the blog . Why did I do that? I discovered that some followers do not even read the blog. Once they see you have a new post, they just like from their inbox and that it is.
Even though you may have 1000 likes per post you create in the physical likes on your blog, you may not necessarily have that much people reading your blog. This TIP was one of the ones I learnt on Word press tips for Bloggers. It is FREE on your Word press resource centre.
Word Press Free Resources (only for Bloggers on Word Press)
When people like from your post from their inbox, it looks as though you have many likes but in actual fact, your stats would be low. The only way you can have high stats is when people land physically on your site/blog. If not you have a great number of likes but low stats / page views; take note of the like button in your Subscribers inbox; how to do that is for you to Subscribe to your own blog and try it out; you can like a blog without visiting the blog physically. I learnt this from reading the Word press free resources and by experimenting it on my own blog.
For Bloggers who hope to work with different Brands / PR companies, the amount to readers / followers and stats come in handy. Brands don’t only need a fine looking blog, they want a Blogger who can help them sell their products or influence their sales. That is the real world of branding.
Successful blogging has a lot to do with real people reading your blog. There is no point writing what no body would read or what nobody is reading. It is when they read that they can share and probably tell others about it.
Don’t you think so too?
No, you can not force people to read your blog or what you write about which is fair. The question is why like what you didn’t read? Tricky right? I will tell you….
1, some of the “likers” want you to think they are supportive.
2, some of the “likers” do not care about what you talk about.
3, some of the “likers” are Bloggers like you who want you to be loyal to them and visit their blogs.
For me, if I do not have the time to read any blog as soon as I see it, I leave it till I can make time to read it and then like. If I need to leave a comment I do that too. In most cases, I leave comments to tell the Blogger that I appreciate their effort and time. We all know great contents take time to create, don’t we?
Commenting on any posts make the work of that person credible. For writers, it is a good reward when you leave a writer a review, comment or share their work.
One of the ways you know when people read the text of your blog is that their comment matches what you have written. I always have some sort of questions on every blog, when peoples comment is off then I know they didn’t really read. I always reply to their comments though nonetheless, at least for taking the time to leave a comment.
Although, I have deactivated the like button on Moj in Touch for now, I may activate it in the future. You will see when I do.
If you are not interested in what people write, it is misleading to just leave an off comment. Just saying!!!
Take note : I will write a new “blogging for success” talking about COMMENTS only in the near future.
This look will be a perfect one for this Spring/Summer, check it out in full here
CYBER FIGHT / WAR
We all know of the saying that haters will hate. No matter how good you are at what they do or how good your work is, some people will not just like you. Why? I don’t know.
I have been lucky enough to have amazing support from far, near and from friends and family. However, I have also had some people who just want to bring me down for nothing.
I used to reply and fight back but with time, I discovered that the people who leave those comments or try to bring others down do not deserve my time. Truly, they want to do what you do or they want to be like you and when they can’t, they try to bring you down. Such people actually have failed to realise it takes courage and boldness to put yourself out there.
To the haters or fault finders, I basically ignore them now and say no word. The best thing you can do as a Blogger is not to be afraid to stay where the love is. When you give love, you will receive love back, there are no 2 ways about it.
So for haters, I just walk, walk, walk, it is the best form or exercise. See, I am walking……
I hope you enjoyed reading this write up. Don’t forget, these are just my experience. We all would have common or different experience as Bloggers. If any of the above are relevant to you, please share them with me in the comments below.
As always, I want to thank you so much for stopping by today. Wishing you a lovely day today.
Much Love, Mojisola.

Thank you for reading ChiChi.
Appreciate the feedback

I really enjoy this post. Very enlighteninformative and encouraging. I’m still a little blogger trying to find my place in the blog space so I am yet to receive a single negative comment. When it comes, I’m dusting that nonsense of my shoukder. Lol.
I do agree with you about bloggers that are snobs. You leave a comment and they will never acknowledge you. You send them personal email asking questions or seeking guidance and you get the ignore button pushed into your face. It’s really annoying. It just tells you the type of people they are.
I need to go and check on my like status. I need to know exactly what is going on there.
Thanks for this piece Moji. Very informative!
Hi Sade,
SO good to see you. Hope you are doing well.
Yes, it is very important to walk ways from all the BS.
And YES, we are all on a journey to finding our way so you sure will find your way.
My approach is always to ask and if I do not hear back, life goes on. Not asking is a NO already so ask at least to see what happens.
The very best beautiful lady.
Cheers.
Like I said in my last blogging tips post, I am ignoring the trolls. I won’t let the drain me. I am walking away too. Great post x
Of course Stella.
Thank you for reading.

These are such great tips girlie! I couldn’t agree more, I try to visit all the bloggers who visit my blog and little do they know that every time they comment I check in on their old posts, those are the people I visit first, I tend to connect with them on social media if I see that they have one, because you are right the more the merrier and the way I see it if we work together the more everyone becomes successful! Gorgeous photos!
