Hi Everyone. Welcome! I hope you are doing well and your week went great. I am doing well too and thankful for the love and mercies of God.
So Rihanna is on the news again, don’t panic, it’s all good. She wore an AFRICAN print called ANKARA and that look is been heading the fashion news head line.
One of the things I missed very much about living a long way from home is that I do not get the chance to wear some of my native clothes as much. Before the ANKARA print & LACE became really popular in the fashion world, it has always been in existence where I am from. For those of you who don’t know, I was born and raised in Nigeria where the sun is like the second skin.
Lace & Ankara print are worn traditionally for different occassions. Fast forward couple of years and even bigger now, they are every where:on the runway and in stores. I saw them in ZARA this last summer and you can definitely see loads of laces in stores now.
When I saw this skirt it reminded me of home, I wanted to wear it but since I do not own it, I decided to style it. The thing about the african print is that they are always very colourful, bold and variable, they differ from fabric to fabric. For this colourful one, I styled it with a plain black turtleneck since it’s a little colder now.
To make the blouse pop, I attached a colourful brooch to it, and finished the look with a lovely patent leather heels and a top handle bag. You can also wear a lovely clutch with this look.
Finally a large bangle on one of the sleeves of the turtle neck.
Do you have any prints in your closet and would you wear the ANKARA print? I wore a skirt ankara print here. See Rihanna in Ankara print from Stella Jean here. A couple from one of my faavourite African designer here.
Thank you so much for stopping by my blog, I am always happy to see you here. Wishing you a blessed weekend.
All styling is a guideline. You can always get pieces you can afford to recreate the look.
You are beautiful.
