Firstly, thank you all so much for the birthday messages and the blog anniversary well-wishes. My Facebook especially was filled with so much love from many of you. I am grateful.
Good news!. My hair has grown so much that some people saw my husband in Nigeria recently and asked him if that was my natural hair or a wig. YEP, it is my natural hair.
I told you in my first post on What to Know Before You Go Natural that he was the one who encouraged me to go for it. And since then, I have learnt so much on natural hair by reading good books, checking out other people’s hair journey BUT most importantly, paying close attention to my own hair – the later here is the most important thing, as no one size fits all when it comes to natural hair.
Some General Natural Hair TIPS I Discovered & Use + Length Retention TIPS
Wet Hair
When it comes to natural hair, combing your hair wet is the best way to comb, if you have to comb at all. Once you shampoo, condition and detangle, apply your leave in conditioner and then comb. Comb from TIP to END. This will help you prevent pulling and shedding. Style your hair as desired.
Shampooing
Shampoos are meant to take off dirt from hair and clean the scalp. I discovered that shampooing natural hair too much makes hair dry and possibly to start shedding because of excessive dryness. Wash your hair, with a co-wash and not shampoo all the time. It helps keep your hair hydrated. Shampoo only when hair is dirty- use moisturising shampoos, they the best for most texture of natural hair, if not all.
Hot Water – Cold Water
Hot water helps to remove dirt easily from the hair when washing because it opens your pores. While this is good, it is also best to close the pores so that dirt doesn’t settle on your hair easily. To close pores, use cold water. Once you finish washing and rinsing with hot water, close your pores with cold water.

Your hair looks amazing. It really has grown while mine just sits there. LOL! I have been so lazy with mine and tired of trying to do something with it. My arms hurt trying to twist every night. Now I am motivated again. Thanks!
My hand hurts too when braiding..
I am sure your hair will grow eventually, give it more attention
Cheers.
