The most important thing to do before buying a bra is to try it on. If the BRA doesn’t fit well in the store, it wouldn’t fit well when you bring it home.
Follow this basic steps to get your perfect bra measurement if you do not know your BRA SIZE
TOOLS you need include:
1, A MIRROR.
2, A SOFT MEASURING TAPE.
BRA MEASUREMENT DIY……two parts to measure.
1, band size(32, 36,38 etc).
2, Cup size(A, B, C etc).
LET’S BEGIN
1, THE BAND MEASUREMENT (greenline on diagram)
Measure around the rib cage directly under the burst. Look in the mirror to make sure the tape is smooth across your back and level with the front. Once you get the number/your measurment, you will want to add 5 to that measurement to obtain your band size. e.g if your measurement turns out to be 29, add 5 .i.e 29+5=34. This makes your BAND SIZE
If your band size happens to be AN ODD NUMBER, say 33, you will always have to go up to the next size which makes it 34. You BRA will still fit you provided it envelops your entire breasts. Never go down in size if you get an odd bra size measurement. You bra must never be tight, it has to be fitted and firm.
2, THE CUP MEASUREMENT(orangeline on diagram)
Take the tape measurement and measure loosely around the fullest part of your burst. Ensure the tape measures straight BUT not tight. Look in the mirror to make sure the tape is even across your back. Next, subtract your BAND SIZE from the measurement. This should be your regular BRA SIZE.
THE CHART BELOW WILL HELP YOU
If the difference is less than 1 inch to 1 inch=A CUP
If the difference is less than 1 inch to 2 inch=B CUP
If the difference is less than 1 inch to 3 inch=C CUP
If the difference is less than 1 inch to 4 inch=D CUP
If the difference is less than 1 inch to 5 inch=DD CUP
If the difference is less than 1 inch to 6 inch=E CUP
If the difference is less than 1 inch to 7 inch=EE CUP and so on.
For Example, if your BAND SIZE was “32” and your burst measurement was “33”, you will want an A CUP
THE PADDED BRA
With the padded bra, you would have to go next size up in order to obtain the best fit for you. For example, if you are 32(A), you may want to go 32(B) cup size. In this case, the band size should be the same, only the cup size changes.
OTHER POINTS TO NOTE
1,Every woman’s frame/figure differs so results may vary. Even BRAS don’t fit the same way….they vary from brand to brand and style to style.
2,Ensure to try out different styles and make sure they fit well before you buy them. Like I said earlier, if they don’t fit well in stores, they won’t fit well when you bring them home. Read my guide for shopping happy here where I also mentioned the same statement.
VERY IMPORTANT TIP(S) TO KNOW
1, do not wear a padded bra when trying out new bras. To get the best results, get your measurements taken with no bra on.
TO GET THE PERFECT FITTING BRA, KNOW THAT
1, THE BAND
Fit two fingers under the band and make sure it is fitted but not tight or cutting into your skin. You know your bra is not supposed to leave any marks on your body, if that ever happens, then the bra is too tight.
2, POSITION OF BRA ON THE BACK
The BAND should sit low on the back than in the front. Ensure the band sits comfortably below the SHOULDER BLADES.
This is about the most important pointer, never have the back of your bra riding above the bra line. If this happens, adjust the strap of the bra. If your bra is still riding up then you need to try a smaller band size.
3, BRA STRAPS
Ensure that your straps give you the support your breasts crave without cutting into your skin or too tight.
4, CUPS
The cups should fit smoothly. If there are wrinkles on your bra, go for a smaller cup.
On the other hand, if there’s an overflow at the top or the underarm, you should try a larger cup size.
In summary, you bra is suppossed to sit nicely between your shoulder and your elbow from the front view. There shouldn’t be any spillage on the boobies/breast.
You breasts should be well enveloped in your bra. They should be nice and pert.
If you follow the above steps, you should get your measurements accurately, you should find a bra that fits and you should find a bra that flatters your figure.
I hope this helps you in finding your BRA SIZE easily. If you feel like this step isn’t for you, get a professional bra fitter to measure you.
Finally, wearing the right bra flatters your figure and wearing the wrong bra ruins your silhouette/proportions/figure.
