SALE simply means bargain. A special disposal of goods at a reduced cost. Having said that, not all sales are good sales. You can check out my article on “an easy guide to shop happy HERE if you do not know how to shop at all.
This steps will guide you to bag/buy the best of sales.
1, Pick items up in Advance
a, Know what you want to buy and if possible try them out.
b, know sizes that fit and ensure they fit well.
c, know the original price and the price you hope to pay for the item when they go on sale. Save towards it.
2, Read up and be Social
a, sign up for newsletters of the stores you hope to buy things from; you will get notification when sales are about to start.
b, like your favourite shop(s) on Facebook and follow them on Twitter; you will get notification in your feed.
3, Timing matters.
a, they would normally have an initial sale; this is when you buy the things you really need but not at a crazy discount. You will get a reduction still. In most cases, you will find what you are looking for at the initial sale.
b, there’s the pre sale; this is usually unadvertised and it is for selected people mostly the ones who sign up for newsletters. This is only applicable in high end stores/designer brands. Being in the Image Consulting business gives me the chance to have access to most of this sale and even more discount.
c, Second sale; this is when they reduce items further and its usually better than the initial sale.
d, Final Sale; this is when you can bag/buy a lot for up to 70% reduction. In most cases at this stage, you may not find what you are looking for.
4, You need Wisdom/ Choose wisely
a, ensure to buy classics, they last longer. Trends come and go. Check HERE for my article on wardrobe staples.
b, only buy the things you need. The things that can take you from season to season.
Why don’t you take a moment to answer the following questions and think about what you need to buy a little.
a, Will this item or items fit my personal style?
b, Does it work for my body or does it fit me?
c, Will I still like it in 6 months and will it take me from season to season?
d, Am I buying it because it is on trend or because I just want it?
e, Does it work for my lifestyle?
f, Can I wear it in more than one way and to many occasions?
If you answer NO to more than 3 of the above, I highly suggest that you do not buy the item or items.
5, Personal Shopper
If you are always confused on what to buy or where to buy them, use the service of a personal shopper. They know their way around and will help you bag/buy good stuff(s) for your bucks. Trained Personal shoppers know how, where and when to buy/shop and within your budget.
Finally don’t forget to spend your money where you spend your time. Your life style is about the most important thing when selecting or buying things for your closet whether on full price or on sale. Don’t buy things because your best friend has it, the question should always be: do I need it and would I use it? If you answer yes to the above then buy it/them.
I hope you find the post helpful. Go ahead and have a good time shopping the sale. There is a but like I mentioned above, only buy what you need.
