I believe I can’t be the only one who aspires to be more. In case you don’t understand, here’s what I mean: so many times, I pray for some things, hope for some, wish for some BUT I also know that for me to have them, no matter how much I pray, I have to WORK for the things I want before I have them.
Jim Rohn, a faith based motivational speaker always said: “For you to have more, you have to become more”. If I may, this simply means, what price are you willing to pay for what you want? Today on motivation for Monday, I want to encourage you on what I call, “the things I have now”…….
This post was inspired by my graduation. I had my graduation on Saturday the 24th of February. It was fun, exciting and truly inspirational for me especially seeing all the graduands from different parts of the world. Seeing everyone excited and looking forward to a great future wasn’t just a vibe I got from all those graduands, it was a vibe I gave too. This is what happens when we achieve something we’ve always wanted. We feel fulfilled, joyful and pleased.
Once upon a time, I desired to get a Masters, now I have it. Once upon a time, I desired to be an Author, now I have it – a Bestselling Author of “Use What You Have”. Once upon a time, I desired to own a business, now I have it. I am grateful indeed.
I know this popular seeing that says, “I remember praying for the things I have now”. We all at one point have been in a situation whereby we pray for something or wish or hope for them. If you are or have ever been in that situation, don’t just WISH, ACT and DO WHATEVER it takes for you to have whatever it is you want for yourself.
Getting this Masters wasn’t the easiest of things to do for me as a working mum BUT I wished it and I acted on getting it. My true encouragement to you today is that everything is possible and whatever it is you want, fight for it till you get it so you too can say, “the things I have now.”
And who says it was going to be easy, it may not. You may have to deny yourself of so many things, you may have to make sacrifices, you may have to let go of bad company or friends, you may have to pay heavily for it, you may have to deny yourself from doing some things you normally do e.g sleeping less, watching less TV, going out at the weekends etc and some times, you may shed a tear or two BUT, NEVER take your eyes off the goal. Do whatever it is you have to, to get what you want…..
No matter what it is you want, you can have it, if you truly want it. Is to travel? launch a blog or business or ministry? go on a vacation? change your career? loose weight? propose to your lover? buy a home? etc. YES, YOU CAN HAVE IT. Pray about it, stop wishing and start taking action, then you can have it or them 🙂
Post as Written of Facebook: As the year is coming to an end, many of us may be dwelling on the things that are not / were not / the things that didn’t work out / the goals we didn’t achieve despite all the right plans and moves we made……
This is the WRONG approach to take if you are focusing on what didn’t come to be. Instead, FOCUS on the things that worked –
**The gift of life – many would love to be alive but are no more.
**A place to call home – many are homeless.
**Food to eat – many have mouth but can’t eat.
**Clothes on your back – many are out there with no clothes to wear.
All the above are the littlest things of life BUT they count, they matter, they make our everyday work or function, and more. The things that are not now would eventually be. They will!. And guess what, in THANKSGIVING or SHOWING GRATITUDE, we attract more. No wonder the scripture says, “do not worry about anything, in prayers and supplication WITH thanksgiving, make your request known to the Father”…..
So, don’t worry about a thing, continue to give thanks and go out there and GRIND…….

My prayer for you is that God gives you the strength to go ahead and get what is important to you so you can have the things you’ve always wanted.
