Any writer can relate to this: I started writing this text for an Instagram post on Sunday morning and the few lines I wrote reads thus:
“We finished the “Use What You Have – Gifted for a Purpose Masterclass” at about 9.50pm on Saturday night and I am grateful for everyone who joined us. This opened my eyes to what it means to BELIEVE. Maybe I will create a blog to talk more on this…
We can grow on our journeys and discover the hidden potential that we have but if we don’t BELIEVE, it is possible to settle for the less than who we have been called to be.
I went into creating and running the course with the mindset that come what may, that even if it is one person that shows up, I will run the classes.
Night after night, many joined us live. Their testimonials made me realise that all I needed to do was my bit which is to create the course and God will do his bit which is to connect me with the right people via social media.
Will you dare to BELIEVE and do what God has put in your heart? There are people out there who needs what you know. Will you dare to believe and put those things out?”
The above was exactly what I wrote for an Instagram post. When I read it through, I discovered this looks more like a post that should be on my website and not on Instagram and this is why I am writing this blog as Motivation for Monday. I copied the text, attached it to clipboard and sent it to my email and here we are, a motivation for Monday blog…….
Please allow me to take you on a personal journey. I hope you don’t mind.
See when I finished writing “Use What You Have” about 2 years ago, I sent the draft out to a few advanced readers to read it through. One of the readers came back to me and this was exactly what they said: “I am working on a course on discovering purpose and your book will be a good tool to use as a textbook on the course. You know even in schools, other people write the text books the teachers use to teach and so if you don’t mind, I would love to use this book as part of my course”.
That was exactly what they said to me then (about 2 years ago). I was so very happy and if you remember, I shared that news with you my dear readers in the post I wrote HERE
Weeks after the book was launched, I didn’t hear back from them. So, I wrote to them. When they came back to me, they said, “they have now created the course but wouldn’t be using the book again”. They offered to send me the course so I could see but I said No, it was not necessary since it was a course they “wrote for their business”…….Was I upset about this? No, I wasn’t. I just moved on…no hard feelings and no regrets. It wasn’t just meant to be, I told myself and I learnt from that experience…….
Towards the end of last year – 2017 as I rounded up my Masters, I felt this push to convert the “Use What You Have” book to a course, a Masterclass actually. I reached out to an accountability partner (a Coach) who would give me a kick on my behind to go for it. So, We choose a date and started the classes and when we finished on Saturday 5th of May and based on the testimonials I got, I realised that I didn’t dare to dream big before now. Here are a few lessons I learnt…….
I Didn’t Dare to Dream Big & Believe
You know I mentioned that someone else asked me if they could use my book as a teaching text for their course and I said yes, they could. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. What I realised is that I trusted someone else to help me live my own dream / live my purpose.
In hindsight, I am grateful that I choose not to read through the course they created because as mentioned above. Now that I have created a course out of “Use What You Have”, it could have been a case of “I used their contents”. There is a scripture that says, “everything works out for good”……. I can see that everything worked out for good for me in this case…..
And it made it easier for me to dream big, think big and believe in the potential of what my own book could be – A Masterclass that would change lives……
See, you must dare to dream big and believe in your God given ideas and work on them by YOURSELF. Don’t wait for other people to live your dream for you. Believe. Work on your visions because they are yours. Don’t waste it and don’t wait on others to do the job for you. BELIEVE. Guess what, nobody can fulfill your purpose for you as well, this is something you must do by yourself.
I Didn’t Believe in the Potential of My Dream
When I received the leading to write “Use What You Have”, it wasn’t part of my plan to turn the book into a course. It was just a book God gave me an idea to write and that was all I thought it would be. Towards the end of last year when I was listening to hear from God about what was next for me. The inspiration came to turn the book into an extensive course that would help people. Coincidentally, people continued to ask me questions on GIFTS and this was when I got the push to create this course.
We started the course on Tuesday May 5th, the introduction to the course. By day 2 on the course, May 6th, my inbox was filled with mind blowing testimonials. For the sake of the people who trusted me confidentially with their remarks, I will not be mentioning names…….
One person wrote:
“Thank you very much Moji. I also enjoyed today’s session. I am still on a mission of finding my purpose. I work as a (position blocked out) team lead at a (where they work taken out) and I am absolutely tired of the role. My bosses keep putting me at (the position they hold taken out) . Customers say they prefer dealing with me as I still remain composed and I don’t get angry and I am patient. I am still trying to put all those together to recognise my purpose. Also I used to make hair in secondary school and out of boredom sometimes do make my daughter’s hair. I also think of being a (blocked out) using my own on the job experience. You inspired me to start writing about my experience on the job and I have done a few lines though I am confused as to how to continue and how to put my thoughts into writing and if anyone will be interested in reading and learning from my experience but I see customer service as a major problem in Nigeria. Thank you so much for this platform I am glad I can open up like this. I really would love to do something else that would make me look forward to getting out of bed every morning. The only days I am super excited are days I don’t go to work”……
I am now talking with this amazing lady, in fact, I was on a call with her for 1 hour yesterday and we are going to do amazing things together………
There Are People Out There Who Want to Learn What You Know
You know I mentioned that I had to bring on an accountability partner to hold me accountable till I did this course. This is not because I am not hardworking. I can boldly call myself a hard worker. However, the reason why I needed someone was to make sure I did it.
Here are a few things that almost stopped me:
My mindset: I kept telling myself, this topic of purpose is been taught by many people already.
Who: nobody is interested in this course?
Where: where do I find the people I can call my “tribe” to come on this course with me.
Unknown to me, I have done my job. I have served people with the motivation contents I create every Monday and people were waiting for me to create a course like this. We created a private group, invited people to the course and 23 of us, including myself are in the group. 23! The question is why did I wait till now?
Lessons to learn from this:
There is a tribe for you. Find them so you can help them.
There are people who don’t know what you know. Teach those things.
Don’t let your mindset, set you back. Be Bold. Believe in the power of your dreams and visions given to you by God.
Get an accountability partner. This makes a lot of difference. Be careful whom you share your big dreams with.
Finally, you can do this. Don’t delay. Dare to BELIEVE.
Believing in ones dreams is very important for us to be able to live in our God’s given purpose. We achieve what we believe and not what we can do….will you BELIEVE?
I was wearing: | Zara Leather Skirt & Blouse | Christian Louboutin Pigalle 100mm Heels
Finally, I want to encourage you that no matter what you do, discover that what God has “called” you to do. Continue praying and be practical in seeking to understand more about your purpose here on earth. Then be bold to work in your purpose by taking steps towards fulfilling your potential and continue to pray and be thankful in everything. Most importantly, DARE TO BELIEVE.
