A statement coat is one of my favourite things to wear in the winter. I love coats not only because they keep me warm but because most times in winter, our clothes / outfits are buried under our coats when outdoors.
In my humble opinion, wearing statement coats is one of the ways to feel chic and stylish in the winter or colder months.
One of the reasons why I love fashion is that you can create any character you want with what you wear. Today, I wanted to feel like a member of the military/navy so I made my military style coat and hat do the magic for me.
I wore a black ski pant with a sky blue shirt. To keep me “nice and warm”, I wore a military style coat and a matching hat to keep the military style going.
To add some accent to the all black and blue look and to mimic the buttons on my coat, I wore a tan pair of ankle boots which are also rugged in look and has some military flare to them.
A blue or black shoes/boots will work well with this look.
And NO, I didn’t buy the coat and the hat together, they just happened to match.
Fashion TIP today ::: Who should wear long coats
If you are petite, a coat like this may drown you. It is likely to make you look shorter because the coat is a long line one especially when you button it all up like I did.
I will highly recommend a knee length coat for you as a petite woman/lady.
For the tall ladies, this coat will be spot on on you.
Motivation for Monday ::: Opportunities & Hard work
On Sunday, I read and listened to two messages that talked about been industrious and the other was about choice. Both messages ended the same way. They both talked about the ability to see opportunities around us, taking action in being a partaker of such opportunities and then working hard to achieve something out of the opportunities.
One of the messages said a lot of us have eyes but we do not see. When I digested the message, I nodded in agreement to that line. WHY you may ask? Allow me use “fashion blogging” as an example. There are more than a million fashion bloggers worldwide. Fashion blogging this days is not the same it used to be compared to a few years back. It is now very saturated, very competitive and almost impossible to achieve anything from blogging fashion.
As impossible or as difficult as it may be to achieve anything from blogging fashion. There are a lot of bloggers worldwide who make living wage from their blogs. Most of “those successful bloggers” then branch out to create viable businesses from blogging. But how are they different from others? It is because they have seen an opportunity, they are partaking of the opportunity and they are working hard to achieve something out of the opportunity.
The 3 steps ; seeing an opportunity, partaking of the opportunity and working hard to achieve something from that opportunity is applicable in all works of life. The step 3 is always the hardest to do whether in fashion blogging or blogging of any kind or any works of life. What is that opportunity you have seen or one that has been presented to you? Grab it or them with open arms and you will do well only if you try. Until you try, you never can tell what you can do or achieve.
Have a look at the picture below…….
To me, it looks like I am walking confidently towards something or to get something. This is exactly what I want you to do. What is that goal of yours you want to achieve or that opportunity that has been presented to you or one you have seen yourself? Begin to walk confidently towards achieving it and believe me, you can do anything you set your mind to do.
I will leave you with this…….
Believe in your self, have faith in your abilities! WIthout a humble but reasonable confidence in your own power, you can not be successful or happy……Norman VIncent Peale.
Now, keep going. Don’t stop and you will be who you want to be. There is greatness inside of you.

Wishing you a fantastic week this week. I pray that your eyes be opened to opportunities and the ability and wisdom to be a partaker of the opportunities that may come your way.

There she is. I salute you girlie! Looking long, lean, chic and powerful. This navy coat is beautiful. Not too dark, not too light. The buttons, you know I had to enlarge that picture. You know I love to sail and I thought I saw an anchor on there. I don’t wear hats a lot, (because I don’t know how to style them) but I love this one. Very equestrian/military to say the least. Clearly you’d be a high ranking officer. Much like you said, the tan lace & buckle bootie is the perfect finishing touch to this ensemble. And yes, someone not gifted with such height should go with a shorter-line coat.
Lastly, agreed…… self acceptance & confidence will get you much further in life than what anyone else can ever get you to believe. It starts within,
Great post!
