When we fail at anything, who do we blame? Do we blame our Coaches or Mentors or do we blame everything we have to work with; the weather, the transportation system, the education system, the parent who didn’t send us to the best schools or just anything we can find to blame or do we take full responsibility for not doing what we are supposed to do?
Today, I want to talk to you about don’t blame the Coach. Remember TIP number five I shared on FOCUS is that I read a lot and I listen a lot. If you missed FOCUS, you may need to read it to understand what I mean.
Another thing I do a lot is that I invest in myself. What does this mean? This simply means that I use my money to buy things that can help me grow, learn more, be more and reach my potential.
Investing in self for example can also mean hiring a coach or a Mentor or buying products or services they sell. This is a bold step and doesn’t come cheap. Some coaches charge as “little” as $100.00 an hour and some up to $300 an hour depending on what they want to help you do or achieve. While it is so easy to say, I will hire a coach, pay them to help me grow and be successful, it will not be their fault if you fail still. Here’s what I mean……..
I have a headache and there is a pharmacy just down town. I managed to get to the pharmacy, bought some medicine and drove straight home. When I got home, I left the medicine on the table. Meanwhile, my head is still very sore. Although I have the medicine that could cure my headache, I didn’t take it. However, I am still there complaining of headache………….
You can see from the illustration above that although I have the medicine right there on my table, the only thing I didn’t do is take the medicine. The consequence now is that I still have the headache. Until I take the medicine, the headache will still be there.
That headache & medicine approach is applicable to buying the products or services a Coach or a Mentor sells. If you buy their products or services but don’t follow through or do what you are told or taught, you will NOT get results. You will not! You can’t blame the coach for not achieving your goals if you don’t do what you are told. They teach you actions to take, on your part, you MUST implement them to get results.
The headache and medicine approach is not only about buying products and services from coaches. When we realise in life we are not where we should be BUT don’t do anything about it, we will remain in the same spot, complaining, wishing, hoping, getting angry or frustrated and so on. Blaming others won’t do, until we change, nothing will change. Until we take that medicine for that headache, the headache will still be there…………..
To Grow in Any Area in Life, We Must:
1, Recognise where we are. Embrace it fully.
2, Acknowledge there is need to change or for change.
3, Seek help. What can I do to grow or who can help me grow or achieve my goals?
Please note, you are your own best cheerleader. Don’t wait for anyone to cheer you on or you may never grow. Be your own cheerleader.
4, If you ever decide to buy the products or services of a coach, USE IT or THEM. FOLLOW THE STEPS OR TIPS or STRATEGIES THEY TEACH you.
If not, you will not get results. Remember the headache and medicine scenario I shared above.
5, Take little steps every day to be who you want to be.
You may not get there in one day BUT when you keep at it, you will get results.
Remember, take that medicine for that headache. This is the only way to “grow”.
6, If you are one who do not have hundreds and hundreds of Dollars to hire a coach or a mentor, encourage yourself, be your own cheerleader and if there is one GIFT you should give yourself daily, it is to READ, READ, & READ, the best stuffs are in the books. Also, when you spot helpful TIPS in a book, write it or them out and apply them to the area of your life where you need help or growth, you will be surprised at what you will and can do.
7, The one medicine that I know for sure works is the power of Prayer. Pray for divine direction in life and in your growth quest and you will be surprised what God will do for you. If you missed the motivation on CLEAR VISION, read it, it will help you on clarity.

Thanks for sharing. This is very helpful. Now, I have to create time for a programme that I subscribed to. It’s 2 months and I haven’t really had time to complete my work.
Thank you for reading Abiodun. I am glad this is like a reminder.
Please make time for your programme, you will get results.
God bless you as you take action
Cheers.
This is great advice Mojisola! I think it’s so important to embrace where we are in life so we can recognize the areas that need improvement. And your headache and medicine analogy is great, I know I’m guilty of doing this too.
Hope you’re having a great start to the week!

Thank you Jackie. Appreciate the feedback
Cheers.
I love reading so going to check these books out on my Kindle. Do you have a mentor? I love reading blogs and books that inspire me, but struggle to believe in the mentor bit.
Thank you Stella for reading and for the feedback. Of course, I know you love books and that is WHY you write like a superstar:)
I totally get what you mean about the Mentor or Coach bit. For people who can’t find their way or direction in life, it may just be an option for them. You know a lot of people “head out” and don’t know where they are going, a Coach or Mentor can help guide or direct them so they do not waste time and then waste away. It helps.
YES, I do have Mentors I look up to. Pastor Sam Adeyemi says, “a Mentor does not have to be someone you pay but one you look up too.
Hope I answered your question. Thanks Hun.
