The last time I shared photo TIPS was in this post here, where I talked about how to look your best you in photos.
A lot of times, we think we have to have the best DSLR to capture the best footage, NOPE it isn’t always the case.
If whoever takes your photos know how to shoot or capture the best footage, the camera wouldn’t matter so today I will share some TIPS on how to look TALLER & LEANER in photos without photoshop.
TIPS 1 | LOWER ANGLE
A lot of you may NOT know me in person but you know from my blog photos that I am a tall woman. Yes I am 5ft 11 almost. My legs are longer than my trunk which is a plus to me.
You can look taller and leaner than you really are if your photographer takes your photos from a lower angel.
If/When your photographer takes your photos standing at the same level as you. You could have a photo like the one below…….
You will notice that even though my legs are long, I wasn’t looking as tall. Not that this is bad but who doesn’t want to look “tall and thin” ?
Let’s look at a photo that was taken from a lower angle and in the same outfit + a jacket. Not only do I look taller, I looked leaner than I really am in person. The photo made me look like I was streched.
Let’s see a few more photos shoot from a lower angle…….
You will notice that in photos 2 & 3, I looked way longer/taller and leaner than I did in the photo 1 where I wore white on white.
So get your photographer to shoot below your waistline and you will look taller than you really are.
TIP 2 | LET YOUR BODY FIT THE FRAME
Looking through the lens of a camera, you look tiny, your body is perceived as though it doesn’t fit the frame of the Camera.
When you fit your entire body into the frame of the camera, you create a proportion which tricks the camera to make you look like you are the largest object around. It creates an illusion, an optical illusion.
Also when you position yourself in front of an object like an electric poll or tree, you look like you are way taller than you are in front of the object.
Let’s see what I mean…….
You will notice that I was right in the middle of the frame and I looked as tall as the object behind me which is way taller than the picture photographed. The tree also wasn’t as close as the picture made it looked.
Let’s take that again if you still don’t get what I mean……
Sure you get it now ! There is no way in Jesus name I will be taller than that building. It is a tall and an enormous building.
TIP 3 | CRISS CROSS
When you cross your legs in photos, you automatically look taller because your legs are re-proportioned or repositioned. And when your legs are longer, you look way taller than you are.
In most cases, I stay away from doing this because I really do not want to look like “Iroko tree” ; Iroko tree is a named tree in Nigeria. It is one of the tallest trees around known in Nigeria.
You will notice that my legs looked longer and I looked taller that the buildings behind me because the photograph was taken at a lower angle. It was a case of double the magic; legs crossed and photo taken at lower angle.
You will also notice that that bird in the sky actually looked like it was just a little bit above my head. It is all because the photo was taken from a lower angle.
TIP 4 | WALK THE WALK
You may also have noticed that in my blog photos that there is always one where I am walking across. When you are photographed taking a long stride, you add an extra dimension to your legs. When your legs are longer, you look leaner and you look instantly taller at least in photos.
Lets’ see me walk the walk……
TIP 5 | HIGH WAISTED & BOOT CUT
Anything high waisted on the lower body will elongate your frame. To create even more illusion of a longer frame, boot cut or flared pants/trousers will do the magic for you.
Flared pants is one of the 70s trend currently trending. Looking through my archive, I do not have any flared pants/trousers photographed so expect a blog on the flared pants soon.
I however have featured Palazzo like three times here on the blog. See here & here for more palazzo and the 70’s trend.
And there you have it lovelies. The next time you get on set to get photographed, get your photographer, friend or who ever take your photos to try out this tips.
Have you tried any of these photography TIPS before, please let me know in the comments below.
Hope you had a fab weekend. Wishing you a fantastic week and God bless you all.
