I heard some factories are recruiting she said to him. He said, “NO, I do not want to work in the factory because I know I will get the job I want and that is why I am doing what I am doing now”.
She then said, you can start and when you get the one you desire, you can leave it. He said, No, that is not what I want.
Today on motivation for Monday, I will be sharing with you the great life lessons I learnt from my husband’s friend.
I love writing from life experiences. Experience is the best teacher after all. As you can tell from the title of this post, I am not writing about me but from other people’s experience so you can learn what I have learnt hopefully.
Allow me share this little story with you. My husband met this guy many years ago and they “gelled”. They have been friends ever since. This guy had a little problem with his Immigration status and unfortunately was deported. Fast forward to 2 years ago, he was brought back as a resident by the government. When he came back, he had to start life over again BUT it isn’t as bad as it looks because:
1, He is a man with solid faith.
2, He knows exactly what he wants in life.
3, He wasn’t going to settle for less.
Why am I writing this? I am writing it because from him, my husband’s friend, I learnt two great life lessons and they are to:
1, Silent all the noise and FOCUS
2, Don’t settle for less than you are worth
I have also learnt that in life, many people who find exceptional breakthrough somehow have a downfall before the breakthrough. If you like, call it storm before the rain for them. I am not sure WHY but I have seen many instances of people who found their purpose in their set backs.
My message today is what do you do when life throws lemon at YOU, a.k.a when you suffer set back in life? As hard as things may be, the things you do in the moment of hardship is what moulds you to experience victory or breakthrough.
The Life Lessons Again:
1, Silent All the Noise & Focus
This life is so busy. We are all so busy we can’t hear. To be able to do a lot of great things in life, we have to learn to silent the noise. Give ourselves the chance to be STILL, THINK, JOURNAL (write your thoughts down) and STAY FOCUSED.
There will be many people who will come to you with good intentions. They mean well but they offer you what they think you deserve. I started writing this blog by narrating a conversation that happened between him, my husband’s friend and one of his church members. She advised the guy to take up a job in the factory. The guy said NO, I do not want to work in a factory and focused on what he wanted. Did you know taking that factory job would have been a distraction to him? If you didn’t know before, it would have.
Guess What, Today he doesn’t work in a menial job / factory, He works with a multinational company called Accenture…….
What He Did:
He trusted his instinct. He had crazy faith and FOCUSED on exactly what he wanted and continued to take steps to achieve his dream.
While he was waiting, he didn’t focus on making quick money from that factory job, he focused on taking courses and unpaid work internships that would help him get the job he wanted. Yep, he now has it and earns big money.
The Life Lesson Here Is:
EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE!
Steady Income, Steady Pay Check and Staying in Comfort Zone are a few of the things that has held many people bond. Don’t play life safe, there is no way to go from there.
I know someone will say that factory job will pay the bills. Well, I have news for you, you could be doing it for 10 years if you don’t do anything about it. Ask yourself, Is this what I want for my life in 10years?
If that “factory job” is not what you see yourself doing in 10years time, you must do something about it. As hard as this may seem, it is doable. It takes courage to walk away from that comfort zone but outside of every comfort zone is where growth is. Will you be bold to take that step?
2, Don’t Settle For Less Than you Are Worth:
We all know what we want in life. If not all of us, many of us do. A lot of us who do silent the giant voice in our minds telling us we can do better. On behalf of ourselves, we make excuses. We talk ourselves out of doing great things because we are afraid and we continue to live life unhappy, stuck and unfulfilled.
However, to break out takes a lot of faith. It takes faith to move from that state to another. It takes faith to go back to school. It takes faith to leave that job. It takes faith to turn down that factory job down……….
The bold step to having the kind of faith I am talking about is to believe you deserve more. You can earn more. You want to help people with your gifts. You want to do better, be better in life. Until we believe in the possibility of our potentials, we can’t do great things. Please don’t waste it. Don’t settle for less. Don’t settle for less than you are worth.
My prayer for you is that you will step out in faith and do great things. Amen. Listen, silent those voices telling you what you deserve is less than you are worth. In order words, surround yourself with people who think big.

And incase you were wondering why write about him, he wouldn’t mind. He uses his story to inspire people and especially the youths and I just did that too. I will get my husband to send him this post. We are proud of him and his boldness.
I want to thank you so much for stopping by today. I am always happy to see you stop by. Thank you for letting me be your cheerleader. How can I help? Please let me know below. If you have a feedback, please share that too.

Happy Monday Moji! Thank you for sharing your husband’s friend’s story. It’s very encouraging to read how he overcame such a huge setback. It’s a great reminder that sometimes we need the setbacks in order to see our true purpose.
I hope you have a great week ahead.
