One of the goals on my vision board is to travel more, starting from last year. And with the help of God, I have travelled up to six times already this year – five solo (alone) and one with the family. With more travel ahead this year, I can say, there is power in penning and pining your dreams – a.k.a making vision boards. In my new book, “Create the Life You Want“, I shared how to make your very own vision boards.
Since I have been travelling a lot, I wanted to share with you in this post, “How to travel stylish, comfortable and chic”. Not only have I found a uniform in my travel blazer, I have found a way of looking all fresh and fine when I arrive on my journey. Now, let’s check it out…..
Outfit of the Day ::: Travel Style
I am not making this up now. For all my six travels so far this year, I have worn this blazer. What is not to love about it? It is very well fitted, stylish with double breasted gold accent and warm enough for all seasons – that is match made in heaven I believe. I am now looking to buy another one like this.
So, for my look, I was wearing my trusted double breasted blazer with the softest jeggings I own. I finished the look with a pair of flats and by trusted all time favourite tote. If I can say so myself, this look is what I call my perfect blend of luxury and high street fashion. A woman visiting Harrods from Australia saw me wearing this exact look in Harrods and said, “you look so high fashion, do you work in fashion?” 🙂
Guess what? Her remark was because of the lushness of the blazer and the gold accent both on my bag and flats. Gold looks lush and expensive, all the time, even if it is not real gold. And there is something so good about dressing well, it makes you look and feel confident. So, guys, dress well, be it casual or dressed up
How to Travel Stylish, Comfortable & Chic
Your Clothing is Key
If you want to look stylish when you travel, what you choose to wear is very important. For example, you can choose to wear something like the look I have on in this post or anything you like. The magic is choosing pieces that makes you feel comfortable, yet stylish, simple yet, chic.
Wearing a well fitted blazer is one of the best ways to travel. Not only does it make you look well put together but makes you look lush, chic and expensive. Don’t choose a delicate colour because it could get dirty on time, go for a dark hue and that should keep you looking smart and clean. And blazers are always perfect to pair with treggings, jeggings or jeans or any kinds of trousers (pants) you fancy. Like I said, go for something smart of your choice.

Shoes Are as Important
Whether wearing some slides or pumps or trainers, ensure that the kinds of shoes you wear are comfy. Comfy enough for you to manoeuvre from your flight to buses to trains and most importantly to run easily if running late to catch your flights. Black is classic and goes well with everything but can be bland sometimes. If possible go for something fun like gold or silver or any other colour you fancy like blush. For example, I choose a gold pair of pumps to compliment the gold accent on my blazer and this is why I wear both together all the time. Picture doesn’t do it justice, it is so fine in person 🙂
Bag
Just like blazer, I consider a good bag a must have in every closet and encourage women, especially women of a particular age to invest in a solid, structured one. Very important in your closet!
When travelling, consider a bag with good accent, big, very well structured to hold all your essentials. More than holding all your essentials, they are perfect as a nice arm candy for effect when you travel. They also make you look chic and lush.

Make Up
When travelling, a lot of us tend to wear a lot of make up. While there is nothing wrong with this, it is best to travel with very minimal make up so you can arrive fresh. Instead of caking on make up – foundation, powder etc. Try exfoliating your face to remove all dead cells from your skin surface, use your clarifying toner or cleanser and then moisturise. By the time your arrive your destination, your skin glows naturally because the moisturiser would have settled in and then the natural oils on your face coming through, this makes you glow. The magic that happens after exfoliating is that your skin glows, in all season too.
When you are about 5 minutes away from arrival, if you have to wear make up, grab your make up bag, wipe your hands with some wipes, dab on some powder on your face and some lip gloss and mascara, this makes you look really fresh on arrival. If you have worn make up before while travelling, try dabbing excess oil from your face to keep your face matte or fresh.

Hair
We all know wearing braids is easy and on the other hand, weave can be a pain when we travel. To ensure that you look alright when arriving on your journey, bring a hair brush to run through your hair before alighting your flight. If you can, bring a silk scarf and tie it around your hair as you travel especially when you sleep off on the flight. Silk scarf helps return moisture be it on your hair or skin because silk is warm.

Luggage
If you travel often, you know by now that the airport checks can easily stress anyone out. To avoid the stress, ensure to stick to your luggage allowance and carry on. This way, you do not have to unpack and repack your bags at the airport. This alone can make your trip and smooth one. The less you carry on your carry on (hand luggage), the smarter you look.

Lint Roller
This is kind of like a bonus TIP. When travelling, we can’t choose people who sit beside us. If you are unlucky and you sit next to someone wearing clothes with wool or blanket, some of the lints may fall off and settle on you. To prevent your clothing from looking unkept, carry a link roller in your bag and use this to roll off lints from your clothes so your cloth can look fresh as you arrive on your journey. Guess what? Lint roller is an essential in my handbag.

The blazer is great – plus, if you’re on a plane or somewhere cold, it’s nice to have something to keep you warm. More than once I have wished I tossed a blanket or sweatshirt in my carry-on to deal with that problem!
That is a very good idea to Sarah.
Thank you.
