Any time I see fabrics that remind me of home, I jump for joy for the future of fashion. Although this jacquard peplum blouse is little, it does it for me. And what do I mean by jump for joy? It is because more and more Designers and Fashion labels are embracing African Fabrics and prints.
My blouse today is made from what we call Jacquard in Africa. The fabric is lush in detail and pretty in print. I am from Nigeria by the way, Nigeria is in West Africa 🙂
For my look today, I wanted a look that is simple but dressy; one you could wear at the weekend and this is it. For this look, I paired one of my favourite cropped denims with a cropped peplum blouse and finished the look with ankle strap wedges and voila, my look of the day.
How to Choose the Perfect Peplum Blouse
One of the most flattering style pieces I know is the peplum blouse. It flatters all body types. Yes it does! So no matter your size, don’t shy away from the peplum blouse; just ensure to choose one that fits well.
Below is how to choose the Perfect Peplum Blouse……..
For your peplum to fit well and flatter your silhouette, let the line or joining of your peplum blouse sit on your natural waistline. What I mean is this; look at the photo of me in my peplum blouse, there is a line that goes across my waist line; can you see it? Yes, that one, ensure that you choose the one that accentuates or flatters your waist line like the one I have on. Let it look like you are wearing a belt on your natural waist line; your natural waist line is on your navel.
You can then decide if you want to go for the one with sleeves or not. The most important thing is to choose one that flatters your body.
You can also wear a belt with your peplum blouse; this will flatter your waist line even more. If you are tiny/petite, go for thin belts and if you are bigger/plumply/top heavy, go or wide belts.

Thank you dear Chi. Do take care of you.
Cheers.
I have a beautiful peplum blouse that I haven’t worn yet – I don’t like it paired with anything I currently own. I really need to get out and find a skirt to go with it!
Sarah, peplums are very flattering. Although, I haven’t seen your picture before but I believe a pencil skirt works with Peplum all the time; maybe start with that.
Please let me know how you get on.
Take care of you.
