If you are following me on Facebook, you probably saw the post I shared about the Fenty beauty by Rihanna. If you missed it, in the post, I shared that I watched a couple of the reviews of the Fenty Beauty on YouTube and from the reviews, I came to the conclusion that the products are good. This post is NOT about Fenty Beauty BUT on how we can use social media in a positive way and doing the right thing at the right time + WHY we must all be creators.
Debbie, MsDebDeb was featured in the Irish Independent last week. Her review of the Fenty Beauty was one of the ones I first watched because one, I know her and two, she is in a group I am. The ideal of the group is to work towards a common goal (#success). I watched, left her a comment and off I went to do my own thing. Little did I know that she was going to be a super star a couple of days later…
I know I am still ranting but let’s get into it…
How to Use Social Media Positively & Doing the Right Thing at the Right Time + WHY we Must all be Creators
See, Debbie is being on YouTube since 2009. She is a Masters Degree holder from DIT and she is a lovely bubbly lady. You can say that she has come a long way on YouTube. I know some of you may say, so what if she was featured on a national newspaper? Well, I have life lessons to share with you and secondly, Debbie’s life will never be thesame after this feature…..I will leave it at this and would let those who can imagine, Imagine…..
I always say this, YouTube is where every one should be, the power of video is magical. While a lot of people don’t like to read, they like to view or watch videos…..
Using Social Media Cleverly
A lot of us are online doing one thing or the other and a lot of us WASTE TIME online. I have said it before, if the only reason WHY you are online is to scroll through people’s pictures from morning till evening, you are wasting time. Go online, consume contents that would add value to you like this one and get off SM to do valuable things.
If you are online wasting time, you know it. If you are online gaining or acquiring knowledge, you would know it too. Please, be like Debbie, use social media to your advantage.
Doing the Right Thing at the Right Time
Irish Independent says, Debbie was one of the first set of people who uploaded their Fenty Beauty reviews to YouTube as soon as the products landed in stores. This is doing the right thing at the right time.
See, in life, we must learn to do the right thing at the right time.
If it is time to turn off your phone to read, do so. if it is time to make those videos or write those blogs, do so without procrastinating. You can learn more on how to get things done from the blog I wrote about Drawing the Line.
What Debbie did is a simple strategy YouTube shared with creators a while back. The logic is simple and here goes….If a TOPIC is trending in the social world and you key into that subject whether through writing or through videos, you would gain “traction”.
Although I am using Debbie as an example here, because of that post I shared about Fenty Beauty on my Facebook & Instagram, I gained traction to this blog. The visitors to the blog tripled on that day and the day after; I gained subscribers and most of them came from Instagram. And guess what, I used an Old Blog to do the right thing at the right time.
Be a Creator, The Wealthiest People Are..
I know this is motivation for Monday post BUT I like to share things like the above so we can all learn not to get carried away in the online world. The wealthiest people in the world are CREATORS. Think of people like Bill Gates (Microsoft), Steve Jobs (Apple), Jack Ma (Alli Baba), Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook) + the Fenty Beauty creator (Rihanna) etc, they are/were all Founders / Creators / CEO of products we all use in our everyday lives.
Aside doing the right thing at the right time, be a CREATOR of something. Debbie is a creator, I know a lot of people look down on Bloggers / Vloggers and don’t take them seriously. I am truly sorry for you if you are one of such people. Bloggers as creators should be celebrated because a lot of us go ahead to do amazing things in life. Take for example, Issa Rae, she is an award winning producer/writer/film maker making millions of $ in film. Guess What? She started out on YouTube making short films. Other names that may be familiar: Michelle Phan, Linda Ikeji, Okechukwu Offili (mentioned by Google CEO recently) and many more……
My friends, the 3 key lessons I have for you today are:
1, Use Social Media Wisely / Cleverly / For your own good
2, Do the right thing at the right time
3, Be a Creator
If it is cake you know how to bake, bake cakes. If it is dresses you know how to make, make dresses and If it is writing you know how to write, write. Never in a thousand years would I have thought that I would right a book BUT from creating contents here, I found the direction to be an Author, an Amazon Bestselling Author of Use What You Have.
Guys, if you have not learnt anything here today, be a CREATOR and use Social Media to show off your own creativity. Don’t watch everyone else creating and sharing their own things, join in. Who knows, you could be on the papers someday….
Finally, don’t stop working on your craft and don’t stop believing! Your REWARD is on the way…
Debbie, Congratulations. You should be proud. I am proud of you and the sky is your limit. See you then on Vogue…Yass!
