Have you ever wondered why all of a sudden, you stop seeing some people as often as you would normally see them? You just notice that you don’t see them as much as you would. They are well, they are alive BUT you just don’t see them anywhere from social circle to parties or in places you would normally see them? Today on motivation for Monday, I bring you the true meaning of purposeful isolation.
As you all know, I have an active YouTube Channel with more than 1,700 subscribers and over 203,000 views. I am also subscribed to many YouTube channels so I can watch other creatives like myself. While on YouTube one day, I stumbled upon a video of this amazing lady who is now a motivational speaker helping so many people in different parts of the world. In one of her videos, she spoke about WHY she had to go into isolation so she could change herself, her life and her story for the better. This lady is Lisa Nichols.
In one of her videos, she shared her story of how she was living within and amongst many people BUT she was empty. She felt like she could do more with her life. She wanted more and so she decided to go into isolation, purposeful isolation. In that video, one thing she said that stood out to me was that “she couldn’t help any one if she doesn’t rescue herself first”. And so her life changing journey began……
What is Isolation?
I will make it so simple, it means TO SEPARATE or SET ASIDE if you like.
What is Purpose?
I will also make this one simple too. it means, THE REASON-WHY
What is Purposeful Isolation?
Let me make this one super simple as well. It means TO BE SEPARATED FOR A REASON.
Listen, in life, there must be a time when we have to separate ourselves from a lot of things; A time when we have to remove ourselves from the crowd to change our lives; A time when we have to stand still to hear God and hear ourselves; A time to silent all the noise and focus and a time when we have to separate ourselves from doing childish things and focus on doing GREAT things.
What am I saying? I am saying that in life, we all have a purpose. We all have a destiny to fulfill and we all have a race to run. Until we step away a little from all the rush, all the noise and distractions and all the chaos in this world, we may not be able to face our lives squarely and do great things.
If you have to separate yourself from friends (who don’t add value to you), unnecessary association, relationships and groups or any kinds of social circle etc, do so, so that you can run your race according to your heart desire with the help of God.
Did you know that a lot of times, you do not hear testimonies of people who do not succeed? We hear about people when they do well in life. People are documented in history when they do well. For us to do well in life, we must learn to separate ourselves purposefully, at least for a while.
When you rescue yourself first, you can rescue other people. When you are standing, you can help other people stand and when you are right there at the top, you can reach out to someone from below to help them rise.
Do you want to go back to school, do you want to take a leap in your career? Do you want to put money aside for your future? Do you want more out of life? Improve yourself, your life and fulfil your destiny? I encourage you today, if you have to isolate yourself purposefully, do so. Go away, rescue yourself, discover yourself, be who you want to be, do GREAT things and come back to rescue many. Just like that lady, Lisa Nichols said, rescue yourself first then you can rescue many………believe me, you can never give what you do not have.
If you have ever been on a flight, you would notice that the flight attendants at every point in time before the flight takes off would make a demo. on how to stay safe if ever there is an accident while on board. They bring out this mask and say, ensure to wear your own mask first and be safe, even if you have children with you on board. They insist on you staying safe first…..this simple approach is applicable to us in our personal life and journey to purpose. Rescue yourself first, when you do, reach out and rescue others.
How would it feel after separating yourself for a while, you get that degree or you studied for that exam and passed it at just one sitting or you got promoted in your job only because you detangled yourself from all the distractions going on to do GREAT things. How would you really feel? Let me tell you, it would feel amazing. Go for it, you can!
Purposeful isolation is not being mean and it is not feeling better than others. It is simply setting yourself aside to set yourself up for greatness. If you have to, do it. It will change your life. Nobody, I repeat, nobody succeeds without being purposeful or without being intentional. Be intentional. Be purposeful and separate yourself if you have to.
