Finding a work-life balance as a parent especially as a mum is one of the things I put on the top of my priorities. I work hard just like so many other amazing working women and mums from all around the world and believe me, I am not afraid to play hard and harder if I have to.
On a play day, I look for an outfit that embodies style, fun and playfulness. And today’s look is just it.
For my look today, I paired my shift dress with a pair of flesh tone panty hose and a detachable collar and finished my look with Adidas sneakers and oversized bag to hold all my essentials. A cross body will also be perfect for this look or a mini back pack.
This is a typical look I would wear for running around with my sons, talking a walk in the garden with the hubby, doing school runs and running errands. This look is so comfy, on trend and stylish.
On trend?
The trend of mixing “sneakers” with just everything! This days, you can wear your sneakers with pants / suits, dresses, skirts and just anything. A whole lot of ladies are embracing this trend and I think it is one trend that will be around for some time.
For this trend, I want to say a massive thank you to Rihanna. The girl sure knows how to rock sneakers like a boss and her street style is on point always. To my girl Dana of I’ve got cake, this look is dedicated to you; Just shoot me for saying your name, go ahead 🙂
Fashion TIP today :::: The Shift Dress
When I first shared my first ever shift dress here on the blog, it was this Victoria Beckham shift dress I styled for work. In that post I shared that the shift dress is not meant to be tight neither is it meant to be lose. They are supposed to sit nicely on the body without clinging to the body.
Who can wear them?
Most body types can wear them. For the plus size women or the apple shaped woman, so as not to look bulky on the top half of the body and to create balance, you can create the illusion of smaller upper body by paring yours with a cropped blazer or a crop denim shirt.
You can also pair the shift dress with leggings, basically you can wear yours like a top if you are one who doesn’t like anything short. I wore mine with panty hose like I mentioned above.
A while back, it was almost about this time last year, I wore this dress to a quick and unplanned dinner with my husband in London on our anniversary, I shared more on that HERE. See picture below……
Just a quick question, as a woman and with all that we do, how do you create your work-life balance and what do you wear on your play day? Are you a shift dress wearer like myself or what do you wear? Please share your thoughts with me in the comments below.

We had so much fun capturing this photos. Thanks Claire. See more……
I plucked some flowers
And my “badass face” 🙂
The shift dress paired with sneakers is so easy breezy for the summer period. Choose a colour you like for your own look. For someone like me, I like this blush pink so I chose it. Go for the colour you fancy and have fun pairing yours.
As always, I want to thank you so much for stopping by today. I am always very happy to see you stop by on the blog. Wishing you a colourful day filled with so much fun.
Much Love, Mojisola.
I was wearing……..
Zara shift dress // Adidas sneakers // Fredrick over sized bag // River Island detachable denim collar // Vendeza tights(perfect for people of colour)

Yes, I totally agree with you, it is perfect for running errands.
I would never have thought to pair that shirt with the dress – but it looks entirely different (and very cool) with the shirt!
Hi sarah, thank you for reading. That is a detachable collar by the way. Take care of you beautiful.
Wow! I love this look. I thought the denim collar was a shirt. I wouldn’t have thought to pair both. You look good, relaxed and cute picking the flowers. I do agree with you that Dana does a good job rocking sneakers with her outfit.
Thank you beautiful Sade. Yes, the collar is just a little addition to spice up the look.
