One of the first look books I shared on this blog was a shift dress. Amazingly I still have the Victoria Beckham shift dress in my wardrobe and I can’t wait to wear it again real soon. Today, I will be sharing with you tips and tricks on wearing the shift dress and the difference between the shift and the sheath dress.
Outfit of the Day!
It is really warm and sunny here in Ireland, so for my look today, I was wearing this gorgeous yellow shift dress and to make the look even brighter and bolder, as if it isn’t already, I paired it with an open toe heels and to finish my look, I wore all gold accessories – watch, bracelets and earrings. Voila, my OOTD.
I am not sure you noticed but I was wearing some tights / pantyhose. I am actually trying the Cocoa shade from Marks & Spencer and I think I may have found the perfect tights for me….

Fashion Tips Today!
The shift dress can be worn by just anyone. Since I got this one, I have worn it in different ways, I have paired it with flats without the pantyhose / tights, I have worn it as seen here and I have worn it with leggings and kitten heels. It is just an easy to throw on dress that can take you from day to night or from work to dinner. The neck detail of this one makes it more elegant and stylish. Choose anyone you fancy but a little detail is always good idea.
What is a Shift Dress?
A shift dress is a short dress that hangs from the shoulders. It is suitable for all body types and sizes — anyone can wear the solid design. …
The Difference Between Shift & Sheath Dress
The difference between the two is that a shift dress is less fitted than a sheath dress. … A sheath dress is form-fitting and shaped by darts. (Darts are a V-shaped tuck used to help shape the fabric of a garment to the contours of the body, most commonly seen over the bust area.)
