I mentioned in my last post where I shared different ways to style the off the shoulder trend that I get different questions and from different parts of the world too. Thank you so much for sending me your questions. It is always my pleasure to share and to help. I got another one from two amazing ladies from Italy and I will share answers to their question in this post.
ASK MJ......
I have responded to the amazing ladies by private mail but I always like to share response publicly to questions on the blog so others can learn from it too. I am sure there may be some one looking for something similar here on the web.
And let me include that I do not share anything confidential. If I think the query is something confidential or private, I do not share it. And secondly, there is no such thing as stupid questions. Have any questions, feel free to ask. If you don’t ask, you won’t get answers anyway, so ask.
For body conscious dresses, there is a fine line between fitted and tight. As you can see from the e-mail I was sent, they said they have seen that I like to wear tight clothes. NO, I do not wear tight clothes, I wear FITTED clothes……
What is the difference between Fitted & Tight
Fitted : made or shaped to fill a space or to cover something closely or exactly. All the dresses I have on are fitted and not tight.
Tight : fixed, fastened, or closed firmly; hard to move, undo, or open. I deliberately did some moving around in the yellow dress above so I could share the difference between fitted and tight with you. As you can see, I could move easily in the “motion picture”……see picture below……
When choosing body-conscious dresses, ensure they are fitted and not tight. If they are fitted, you can eat, drink and use the bathroom easily. A fitted dress also accentuates your natural curves and you look well put together, classy and CONFIDENT.
If they are tight, you may not be able to do any of the listed easily or freely. Wearing tight body-con could also look tacky, tasteless, uncomfortable and you stand the risk of your zipper or buttons popping and more…..
So WHAT Underwear Should you wear when you wear Fitted Clothes?
In the picture below, the dress I had on is a fitted one as you can see. Even though it is fitted, the undergarment I wore is seamless and my shape is very well accentuated. Does that mean I am shaped like that naturally? YES, that is my shape naturally. See more below……
My posture on the image was meant to be “fierce” as the look was done for a specific purpose; a love edition for Valentine for a magazine. That was why I posed to show off the hips. With the look……..
1, I was wearing a well fitted BRA.
When you wear a very well fitted bra, your shape will be well accentuated and balanced. Wearing the right bra is the first step to dressing well. If you are not sure about choosing bras or how to measure your bra size, check my article on how to choose the best bras
2, I was wearing a seam free underwear. So I was wearing panties that also fits well and one whose panty line is not showing or anything similar. On fitted clothes, it is important that your panty lines are not showing as this could be tacky and can draw unnecessary attention to you. The panties I wore under this dress was high waisted g- string shaped panties because I didn’t want any panty lines showing on the outwards of the look.
As you would also notice in my back view in the picture below, I was wearing same undergarment to ensure the back of that look is seamless and sleek.
How to Know If Your Dress or Skirt is Too Tight?
How to Create the illusion of curvier body
In my humble opinion, I personally believe in exercise and fitness to create the body you want. Not only do you get the body you want, you will be healthy, fit and strong. Nothing compares to a healthy lifestyle.
In case you want “quick fixes”, the below are options of different control undergarment you can explore. By the way, I said quick fixes because once you take your control undergarment off, you are left with your body the way it is. My thing is if you are happy with your body, rock it by embracing and showing your body off and if you are not, work on your body till you get the body you want.
Spanx : They are about the most popular ones I believe. They are “control undergarments” made to shape the body. They are worn after you wear your panties. There are different types of them and they are comfortable on because I have tried them before. They are not designed to make you look slimmer or thinner but are made to help you shape up your body. They accentuate and flatter your body. Spanx is a brand name by the way. It was founded by Sarah Blakely in 2014
Body Magic : I do know that there are a lot of them and they can be confusing if I am being honest. I have never worn them so I won’t be able to tell if they are comfortable to wear. A few people who have worn them have said to me that they are not very comfortable on. To me comfort is key in anything I wear. I think it is very important to wear what you are comfortable in. Don’t you think so too? Body magic is an option to explore if you want to create an illusion of a instant tinier waist and curvy body. I do know a lot of people wear them.
The picture below is shows different shapes of control undergarments from the Spanx Range

What do I Wear When I wear Mini dresses & Skirts?
Anytime I share this little secret with my friends, they laugh. My husband likes me to wear “mini” or short because he thinks my legs are very long and I should show them off. Yes, he gets really excited when I wear “mini”. He also loves it when I wear maxi, as in maxi dresses. All in all, he likes me to show off my height. Thank you husband.
However, I like to wear what I like to wear e.g fitted dresses as you can tell I wear a lot of them, maxi dresses etc and I like to wear what he likes me to wear. Let’s just say I like to make him happy too, he is my husband after all..he he
So what did I come up with?
I have shared with you all here on the blog that even though I love showing off legs, I like to show them off by wearing pantyhose. That is the way I like it. There is nothing wrong in wearing your mini without pantyhose by the way if that is what you prefer.
For me to be comfortable in what I wear, here is my what I came up with……….
I came up with wearing my mini skirts / dresses with skin tone or nude tights / pantyhose. Some of you call them flash tights / pantyhose. If you do not look closely or if I didn’t say anything, you probably won’t be able to tell if I was wearing one. I was also wearing tights / panty hose in the look below………
I also wear other coloured pantyhose / tights in case you are wondering like the one I have on below……….
I am very happy that the ladies who sent me their questions are happy with the response I sent them because they have replied back with a thank you note.

Bravo for clarifying the difference between fitted and tight! Tight clothes are ill fitting which is a deal breaker for a great style! Wonderful article and underwear pieces. I always a predicate seamless underwear 🙂
