For today’s look, I decided to make all things bright, bold and beautiful in this colourful bow neck tube dress. After all, spring is all about colours. This look is simply a case of if life throws you a lemon, just make lemonade. The weather as you can see in the photos was dark but the dress was colourful enough to make everything bright and beautiful.
I wore this dress to a formal birthday party last Saturday and meet up with Claire for quick photos. For styling, I paired the fitted and colourful bow neck dress with nude heels and finished my look with emerald drop earrings.
For hair and make up, I wrapped my hair into a braided side bun and went for dewy make up look. See close shot of my “face beat” and hair in the 2 photos below……..
Fashion TIP today :::: Body Conscious Dresses
For body conscious dresses, there is a thin line between fitted and tight.
Fitted : made or shaped to fill a space or to cover something closely or exactly. The dress I have on is fitted.
Tight : fixed, fastened, or closed firmly; hard to move, undo, or open. I deliberately did some moving around in this dress as you can see in the First photo above so I could share the difference between fitted and tight with you. As you can see, I could move easily in the “motion picture” above……
When choosing body-conscious dresses, ensure they are fitted and not tight. If they are fitted, you can eat, drink and use the bathroom for example. If they are tight, you may not be able to do any of the listed easily or freely. Wearing tight body-con could also look tacky and tasteless.
Motivation for Monday ::: Make Lemonade For Life is a Journey
I am sure you must have heard of the popular saying that tells you to make lemonade if life throws you lemon.
At my leisure, I listen to podcasts or watch motivation videos by people who inspire me. For one, I love to listen to Barack Obama because I think he is an intelligent speaker and a great leader. Secondly, I love to listen to Oprah because she is a phenomenal woman whose career is very inspiring to me. I listen to many other people but allow me to use just these two awesome people as examples in this post.
Why those 2 people you may be wondering? I listen to them because their stories and where they came from inspire me. Obama; father was absent, raised by a single mum and now the President of the Unites States of America. Oprah; an abused child with rocky television career before she rose to become the woman she is today……….
What am I saying? To a lot of us, when we face difficulties or when troubles come our way, we get frustrated, angry and some of us give up. We fail to rise again when we fall. We stop moving when we stumble and to some of us, when it is time to run, we just continue to walk nonchalantly and at the end of the day, we continue to exist instead of living.
Life is worth living even if what you desire is not what you get. What you do with what you get is all that matters. To all of the people I mentioned above, they all managed to make lemonade out of the lemon life threw at them. Who says it was easy for them? I am sure it wasn’t but out of their situations, they still became who they want to be. I also believe, they didn’t do it alone, God must have brought help their way. When we decide to start or continue trying instead of giving up, God sends help our way.
For those of you who understand photography, you will notice that this photos were taken at golden hour(sun set), we had a choice not to take photos on the day because all of a sudden the weather turned dark + cold and windy almost as soon as we started shooting, but we choose to do the photos with the light we improvised our selves. And here, we have great photos.
Life can be like weather sometimes, it can change all of a sudden. Improvise and do what you have to do, trust me you will eventually get great results. Life may not always be easy but no matter what you are going through, God is always with you.
There may be reasons for you to sorrow or be sorrowful, please don’t be. There may be reasons for you to give up, please don’t. There may be reasons for you not to want to keep going, please don’t stop. You may have reasons not to want to make lemonade out of the lemons life may throw at you, please do all you can to make lemonade because life is a journey. You will eventually arrive where you want to be only if you try just like Barack and Oprah, you too can be who you want to be. Make Lemonade for life is a journey.
I truly hope you enjoyed my styling of this colourful bow neck tube dress. I also hope you were inspired to keep moving no matter what happens and that you can be who you want to be only if you try. Would love to hear from you, please leave me your comments below
