The Louboutin heels/Loubs/Red bottoms are one of the most popular shoes in the world. They are chic, they are elegant and they frame the legs sexy.
In this post, I will share with you some TIPS & TRICKS to know about them
1, SIGNATURE & NAME
They come with red bottoms. The red bottoms are the signature of the Christian Louboutin brand. All their shoes have the RED BOTTOMS. Their bags and their new nail polish collection has some touch of red on the packaging.
The shoes are named after different things, for example Pigalle is about the most popular one named after one of his favorite neighborhoods in Paris. “Pigalle” is one of Monsieur Louboutin’s most iconic styles.
2, LEATHER & TEXTURE
All their shoes are made from 100% leather (kid leather, calf leather etc). They use suede, satin, spikes, fringes on some of their shoes. Fringes are currently on trend.
Let’s see some fringe heels from their collection…….
Any of their shoes made from leather will stretch and conform to your legs with continous wear. One of the natural property of leather is that they stretch. All other fabrics will stretch too. The only time your shoes won’t stretch is when you do not wear them.
3, THE RED BOTTOMS WILL PEEL
The red bottoms are NOT permanent. The bottoms are made with glossy lacquer, once you start wearing your shoes, they will peel off. When people see the bottom of Loubs that has suffered wear and tear, they assume they are FAKE/COUNTERFEIT. That is not always the case. I do not buy fake so I have a proof to show you in my picture below…….
Let’s see when I just got one of my nude pairs……….
Now let’s see after I have worn them a lot……
You will see from my shoes above that the lacquer on mine has peeled with so much wear. I wear those heels almost everyday and to all occassions (work + play). The lacquer on the heel will never peel of though. The only part that will peel is wherever you walk on/whereever touches the floor / ground.
4, WHERE TO BUY THEM
I highly recommend that you only buy them with reputable dealers or from the official Christian Louboutin website. All reputable dealers can be found via the CL website .
The US website is US Louboutin dot com (United States/Canada).
The UK website is EU Louboutin dot com (Europe).
To avoid buying counterfeit or fake, there is nothing like www.christianlouboutindotcom. There are a lot of fake websites like that, so watch out.
5, PACKAGING
All their shoes come packaged in a brown box with either one or two red dust bags with a the Louboutin signature.
6, SIZE & FIT
The shoes vary in size from design to design. In other words, the size that fits you in one design may not necessarily fit you in the other. For example, I wear size 40.5 in all my “designer” shoes that are made in Italy. That is a UK size 7.5 and US 10.5. I have been lucky that in all my Loubs designs, I wear same size. It is different fit for different people. So I recommend you try them on in stores before buying them.
If you buy them online, ensure to try them in a safe place where the bottoms will not scratch. If while trying them on you scratch them accidentally, you will not be entitled to any refunds or exchange unfortunately. Be Careful !
7, STYLE
They are categorised by designs. They have…….
(1) The classics : which are also called the essentials. They are usually sleek and are timeless e.g Pigalle & Cornielle etc.
Let’s see some Classics…….
Cornielle | 100mm
Pigalle | 120mm
(2) The Nudes : They now have different shades of nude for all skin tone. If you have been following my blog for some time, you will notice that I love nude heels and I wear them all the time. They are perfect for creating an illusion of longer legs. The reason why they are called nude is that they take / conform to your natural skin tone. Read more about why you need nude shoes here
When I got my first few pairs of nude heels, they didn’t have a large variety then. Now you can choose a pair that matches your own natural skin tone. Amen somebody ! Let’s see different shades of nude in photos below……..
(3) The Current Season : this includes different designs for current seasons and they also showcase a lot of edgier designs in this category. Check the image above for reference.
8, Damage & Repairs
The Christian Louboutin website has direct link to official shoe makers that repair their shoes. Their official shoe makers are called Minuit Moins7. They have offices in London and in Paris. They repair heels, sole and every other thing you need done on your shoes.
The other option is for you to contact the Christian Louboutin stockiest in your area and they would let you know if they help handle repairs or direct you to the right place which would always be the official Louboutin shoe makers I mentioned earlier on.
In my humble opinion, if you ever damage your Christain Louboutin heels, send them to this repairers so you do not damage your heels even further by using quick fixes shoe makers.
I must add the cost of repair is not as bad as you may think.
9, HOW COMFORTABLE ARE THEY?
Just like any other kinds of shoes especially leather, if you wear them for the first time, they feel not so comfortable and once your legs settle in them, you feel okay.
The heels come in different height ranging from 85mm to 160mm or 3.5inches to 6 inches and then you have the flats.
Flats are obviously comfortable to wear and heels differ in comfort.
A pair of heels with platform will obviously be more comfortable and the one without platform will not be as comfy.
For e.g the heels I wore below has a 0.5 platforms which make them more comfortable and I can wear them up to 6 hours without no pain. They are the Christian Louboutin Pigalle 120.
I personally do not go for anything higher than 5 inches because I love to wear my shoes. If they are too high, I can’t wear them and I am 5.11ft almost tall already.
Pigalle Plato | 120mm with 0.5 platform.
10, How Much & Sale
Their shoes differ in price. The style and the material they use in making the shoes determine the price. For example, the Classic heels range from 450 euros upward while a pair made from crocodile skin or any other “fancy” design would cost way more.
The classic pairs do not go on sale ever ! Some other ones like summer wedges, wedding heels make it to the sale.
