When I shared the tie style scarf with you for the first time here, I mentioned to you that I was going to share other ways of wearing the scarf with you. In today’s holiday look, I did just that by featuring the tie style scarf, sequin blazer and disco pants.
Today’s look was inspired by Janelle Monae, the black and white queen. The “girl” knows how to work black and white in a varied and fun ways. She is also a master in wearing all things ties (bow ties, over sized bows etc).
For this look, I took a minimalist approach to play with different fun textures. I paired my hand me down disco pants with a clean crisp white work shirt and a tie style scarf . To finish the look, I wore a sequin blazer and a pom pom detail barely there heels. Because there was a lot going on with the look, I played down by wearing no jewelry. A pair of stud earrings would work if you are one who can’t but wear earrings.
Looking closely, I discovered the scarf has almost the same texture as the pants. Did you notice that too? The scarf is made from silk while the disco pants are made from shiny silk satin.
By the way, I have been wondering, who came up with the name disco pants for this kind of pants/trousers? Share your thoughts with me if you know please.
A couple of months ago, I did a look book featuring work style with an oversized bow which is almost like this tie style scarf here. In case you can’t lay your hands on the tie style scarf, I would highly recommend that oversized bow to you to recreate your own look.
Fashion TIP today ::: Different ways to wear Sequins
Sequin is a very strong style piece. In my humble opinion, not everyone would wear it. If you ever consider wearing sequin, try this approach…..
1, Go minimal : make the sequin the centre of focus by pairing your look with simple pieces like a basic tee or a white shirt and a plain pants. In my case, I think I gravitated towards over the top by wearing shiny pants. I liked it very much though.
2, Tone down your look with minimal jewelry and make up.
3, Another way of wearing sequins is by wearing it as a camisole or inner wear. Pair it with a structured blazer with pants/trousers or skirts. You can also wear your own sequin as skirts. If you love some “blinged” out shoes, try your sequins as shoes.
What ever you do, have fun with your look this holiday.
Are you a sequin lover for the holidays or you won’t dare? And since the first time I shared the tie style scarf, have you tried it? Please share your thoughts with me in the comments below.
Thank you so much for stopping by today, I am always very happy to see you here.
Wishing you a fantastic day today and compliment of the seasons.

Thank you dear Stella.
Cheers.
Lovely and classy. I love long thin scarfs. So far you have slayed the tie scarf look. As a matter of fact, this look just inspired me on how to style a fringe skirt I just bought from Banana Republic. I could pair it with a sequins jacket and tame the two texture with a plain shirt. Thanks Moji! This is my favorite look so far; very clean and so modishly chic. LOL!
Thank you dear Sade, Glad you found inspiration from the look. Have a fab day my friend.

Well done Mojisola! The tie-scarf looks chic – and I love the sequin jacket – but I especially love the shoes!! 🙂
