Last weekend was an eye opener for me!
It was indeed thrilling to see women gather together for the same cause. Women from all works of life with the same vision to empower other women.
I attended a charity dinner powered by Break Forth last Saturday. It was all about raising funds and helping women in the developing world. It was a great evening of food, music, catching up, fund raising and awareness and the meet up of women doing exceptionally great things. I am inspired to do more. I will share what I wore soon.
For my look today, I have some layering going on on the top half of my body hence the title layered on top. I paired my short sleeve sweater dress with a short sleeve high neck blouse to keep my upper body warm. The dress on its own is very delicate but warm. To finish my look, I cinched in my waist with a tiny belt to balance my proportions and wrapped the look up with burgundy pumps.
This look is another interpretation of my go to colour scheme; black, white with a pop of colour.
I did a full blog on HOW to dress up Monochromes.
The blog features 5 chic monochrome styles. Do have a look for style inspiration.
Fashion TIP today ::: HOW to Choose a Sweater Dress
The sweater dress or sweater generally are made from stretchy fabrics. When choosing one for you, go a size down because they will stretch even further with wear.
One important TIP to follow is to check the inside label to see what your sweater dress / sweater is made of.
The one I have on has the following composition : 50% polyester, 23% acrylic, 21% nylon, 6% wool. Polyester stretches naturally.
If your sweater dress contains any stretch fabric, always go a size down except you are going for a baggy fit.
MOTIVATION FOR MONDAY / INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY ::: JUST SERVE
“You have not lived today until you have done something for someone who can never repay you.”……John Bunyan
Like I mentioned above, I went to a fund raising dinner last weekend. The gathering opened my eyes, mind and inspired me to be of service even more.
There is still so much to be done in our world especially for women. Women around the world and even more for women in the developing world.
If you find yourself in a position where you can be of service or of help to these women, just serve please. Serve them with your time, resources and in any way you can.
Most of this women are vulnerable and because they are so vulnerable a lot of them settle for less. A lot of these girls/women are abused, taken advantage of, raped, molested and some unfortunately get impregnated and the unlucky ones get killed.
To celebrate the international women’s day this year, I am begging you to please be of help, support and in any way you can to please help support Break Forth in their work to help empower these women even more. Please donate, please give and nothing is too small.
Last Saturday 15 women volunteered to give 15 sowing machines to empower rural women in a part of Nigeria. Break Forth was looking for 10 machines but this women paid for 15. That is awesome. Because those women gave, the 15 women will now be able to earn a living by sewing and will be able to cater and provide for their family and will prevent their girl child from having to sleep with men and or endure abuse to get money
I have given Like I promised on my birthday post. So what would you do to change the world of just one woman?
Please do what you can, nothing is too small. #JUSTSERVE.
I want to wish every woman Happy International Women’s day for 2016. Let us continue to help women in need in our community. Let us create the world we want for women by making impact, changing lives of women, one woman at a time.
So how do you like the sweater dress look book? Would love to hear from you in the comments below.

Thank you Amber. Take care.
Sounds like a good cause and well done for being part of it! Now I know this is an outfit post, but Wow! to your makeup, I am really into blending multi eye shadows, especially using purple, so I love the colours you used here! Have a good week!
Thank you Biki. YES, I know you are doing great with all your lovely goodies/eye shadow palettes from Nigeria. Well done girl and keep enjoying.
Much Love
I like this layered look. It could easily pass for one piece that has detailing that has that double layered look but is faux. The fact that you have two pieces, one being a blouse and this look isn’t bumpy or lumpy is amazing. Most blouses are super fitting and can look messy, not this one. You look great. Another chic look.
