When you think Style, Romance, Exotic food + Pastries and Architecture, what comes to mind? Paris I would say! What would you say?
In today’s post, I will be sharing my “out and about” look book + Style guide + What you need to know about and before you go to Paris. This series is going to be in parts so for this one which I like to call part one, allow me focus on STYLE. Please read……………
Firstly, I need to apologise for dashing away without saying goodbye. Although I had an idea we were going to be travelling to Paris but was caught up with so much to do so I couldn’t tell y’all. I hope I am forgiven. Thanks to everyone who sent me messages asking where I have been. I appreciate the love.
My Out and About Look Book in Paris
If you’ve ever been to Paris or not, there is always a lot of walking to do so the first thing to consider when hitting the streets of Paris is Style. In all honesty, I will say style first before comfort…WHY? The Parisian women and men love Fashion and they “SLAY” / look well all the time. There is no one person on the street of Paris who doesn’t make an effort….
For my look today, style was key for me like a typical Parisian woman but comfort was important too because I was out all day on this day. I was wearing a classic blue jeggings(soft denim) and layers upon layer of tops and a high neck blouse on top. To keep me nice and warm, I wore a long modal scarf and a long coat and a pair of pure white sneakers completes the look. To hold all my essentials for out and about and to move easily, I wore a mini bag in a nice pop of colour and one to expect for SS18. And voila, that is my street style Parisian look of the day!
What to Know and Important Style Facts to Know When Out & About Shopping in Paris
1, Pay Attention to Details:
Like I said above, the Parisian men and women love Fashion. They look well and make an effort. Everyone makes everyday look like they are on a runway…so when going to Paris, pack the good stuff. It could be denim or leggings or dress or anything you want but make sure they are good.
As you can see in my look above, I focused on my outer wear and accessories. I wore a long coat, a gorgeous detail scarf, sneakers and bag. For my look, it was all about accessories as I couldn’t show off what I had underneath. It was cold so I had to keep warm.
So when going to Paris in the Winter and any other time, focus on accessories. Invest in a good coat because that is what would be on the exterior. You can also wear a nice hat (Barrett) and gloves, the Parisian women love that too.
Although the Parisian women/men love high end Fashion, I say bring what you have and can afford and wear it like a million dollar. That is all that matter. You can also mix high street with high end, this is always my take as I do not believe to be stylish you have to wear expensive. You can look expensive without buying expensive….it all comes down to your take on styling. Have fun styling your look.
I was wearing Zara Long Coat // Puma Basket Sneakers // DKNY Bag // Alexander McQueen Scarf
2, The Bag is Important:
So I mentioned above that accessories is key when you dress up in Paris. Bags are big in Paris and the Parisians, both men and women carry nice arm candies / bags. If you are going to Paris, I will highly recommend to wear a mini bag or a size that can hold your essentials BUT be sure to hold your bag well. If possible, wear a back pack but wear it to the front because of pick pockets / street robbers.
I will explain…because Paris is such a tourist city and fashion capital of Europe or the world arguably, you see all sorts of people on the streets. Amongst all those people, there are pick pockets, they are out to rub you off your phone, wallets, money and all they can lay their hands on really.
So ensure to carry your bag well if you have to wear a big one, if not wear a mini bag that fits under your arm or carry a cross body or a back pack. This is very important when you are out shopping, sight-seeing popular places like the Eiffel Tower and so on.
3, Make a List When Shopping:
From Gucci to Prada to Random shops, there are very good stuff in Paris. And because everything is so good and fine, you are likely to spend more than your budget. For this reason, separate your needs from your wants and shop only your needs.
Needs: things you actually need and would use.
Wants: things you buy on impulse, for buying sake and may never use
You get the drift. It is so easy to spend money on your credit card, debit card or cash when you are carried away so ensure to make a budget, plan and stick with it. It makes a lot of difference when you don’t spend what you don’t have. Always remember that the shops are only nice to your credit cards or cash, they want that money off you to maximize profit.
Having said, that, treat yourself well and indulge. Life is too short.

By the way, this Month (February) is Fashion week- (NY Fashion Week, London Fashion Week, Paris Fashion week)…this look is an example of street style what to wear to fashion week if you love minimal fashion like myself. You can switch the bag for a bigger one, it will be handy for carrying your heels if you have to. Other than than that, the look is good for Fashion week anywhere this Winter.

I love that people in Paris dress well – it’s so nice of a change from people in other places, who seem to think leaving the house in PJs or something boring is just fine!
Lol at Pjs, it happens around here too 🙂
