A friend of mine told me that she wants to go back to school to do Nursing a couple of months ago. I was just at home when I remembered her and thought to call her to ‘hold her responsible” / follow up on what she said. I totally forgot to ring her on that day. Thank God I got the chance to hook up with her the next day (Sunday) and so I asked her; “so what about the course”? She said, oh yes, I have now started a module and will continue full time in the fall / Autumn. I “jumped for joy” and said wow! I am truly happy for her because she is now at peace with what she should be doing with her life.
Why did I say “I can never be a nurse”?
It is because of what am truly passiobate about……I am the girl who went in to get the lumps in my breasts taken out / removed and still had the courage to say to my Doctor that she was looking well in her LBD (little black dress). Seriously, she was looking well.
You must think I am vain?
No I am not! Here’s what the story is:
See in life, what we spend our time on or what we are drawn to OR what we pay attention to OR what we love doing for others or enjoying doing OR what we can do without getting tired, our interests so to say OR what we will continue to do even if we do not get paid OR what we are passionate about. These things are what guide us to our purpose in life ie. what we should be doing in life.
By the way, a recent Irish research actually shows that more than 67% are doing a job they do not like or love or should not be doing(will write more about this in another post).
In case, you do not understand, I know “I will never be a nurse” because I have never being that girl who would want to wear a nurse’s uniform or treat or look after someone who is sick. This is not to say I am not caring. No far from it, I will not just be a nurse for profession or career because I haven’t been called to be a nurse. I do love nurses and what they do.
However, if I could say so myself, I am a good writer; I narrate & write fashion + any kinds of creative writing, style people and make them look well, ENCOURAGE them to look well and go out there to achieve their goals / fulfill their purpose in life……. Although what I like doing is not nursing, it is still serving or caring for people but in a different way.
What am I saying?
I am saying that it is possible to get to the top of a ladder and then realise the ladder was leaning on the wrong wall. Oops! To change direction or transition in life is one of the hardest things in life. Here’s how T.D Jakes puts it: “transition is a vulnerable place. You are not completely hooked in the future, but you’re locked out of your past”
Transition
What if I told you this friend of mine is a woman of a “particular age” and she is going back to pursue her purpose in life. She has realised her leader was leaning on the wrong wall and now has decided to come all the way down to start over climbing on the ladder of her life’s purpose. Amazing right!
It takes guts to be able to do this, it does. It takes humility, prayer, and commitment to self and to your future to be able to do this. I am happy for her and I congratulate her in advance because I am looking forward to going to her graduation soon. Guess what, 4 years from now is just around the corner!
Here’s What to Do if “You will Never Be a Nurse” Like Me
1, Ask yourself: am I on the right ladder? Yes or No.
YES: congratulations, you are on the right track. Keep keeping on.
NO: do not worry, this post is for you.
2, Never look at the time that is you have wasted or spent but the time you have left: Here’s what I mean….the time you have spent in life, you can never get back BUT the time you have left, you can maximise / avail of.
So if studying nursing takes 4 years, never look at it like Oh my, I have to go back and study for 4 years. NO, don’t look at it that way. Look at it like, I have not being happy with where I am or with what I am doing and then encourage yourself to go for it.
3, Four (4) Years From Now: how will you feel if after 4 years and you are:
still stuck, not progressing or moving forward, going to work and complaining everyday.
How will you really feel?
Trust me, you will feel unfulfilled, living a lie, frustrated and you MAY NOT fulfill God’s purpose for your life.
If you are stuck and can’t seem to find your way or just don’t know what you should be doing, I wrote “Use What You Have” for you. You can get your copy HERE . It will help guide you to fulfill purpose with your GIFT. Simple right?
Here Are Other Things You Can Really Do
1, Pray about it and listen to the voice of God
2, Write your thoughts down: anytime you pray, write what you think down. Also write your own personal thoughts down if you think it is not God speaking, then pray more.
3, Listen to things (inspirational messages) or read things that can give you hope and clarity.
4, Get confirmation: One way to do this is to speak with people (a counsellor / a mentor / a coach / your Pastor or a friend you trust and can confide in)
Speak with them and share thoughts together. After this, continue to write your thoughts down and meditate / pray
5, You will be at peace: peace will come when you are sure. And when you are sure, go for it with no doubt in your heart.
SO I ASK
What do you want to be? Now is the time to go and be it. It is never too late to start. I say again, never look at the time you have spent or wasted if the latter is the case with you, look at the time you have left and you will be surprised at what you can do. Remember, we will not all be Nurses BUT God created us all for a purpose. Please find yours and fulfill your potential.
My Prayer for you is that God will open your eyes of understanding to see what you should be. Amen.
I want to thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you are inspired by this post. Please don’t look at the time you have spent, look at the time you have left and go for GOLD.
I love you, Mojisola
