Pregnancy comes with a lot of excitements; the joy of knowing that you will be bringing a child into the world, the excitement of sharing the news with your friends and family and the joy of feeling the baby grow and move in your tummy amongst other joyful moments.
With all that joy comes with the “little trouble” of what to wear as the bump begins to get bigger.
One of my best friends called me a couple of weeks ago to inform me that she will be having a baby. It is her first baby. I am very excited and can’t wait for her to have her bundle of joy. I am now praying for her to have a gorgeous little girl with dimples. YES, I am being selfish because I am only surrounded with boys. Boys rock!!!
It was her call that brought about my look today. The dress I have on today is the one and only “formal maternity” dress I got when I was pregnant with my second baby. I only wore it twice or so and I have kept it since then to keep memories. I know you would say this doesn’t look like a maternity dress right? That was the reason why I got it. Will share a few TIPS on maternity wear in a below…………
For my look today, I paired my crop style maternity maxi with a statement necklace. To add some colour + polish and sophistication to the look, I added the fuchsia long line blazer and I finished the look with black pair of minimal mid heels sandals.
I choose a long line blazer to cover the butt / bum / rear. The butt gets bigger and the hips wider once pregnancy begins to advance. So as not to be conscious of the size of the butt and hip, the blazer distracts attention from them; the butt & hips.
You will also notice that I didn’t button up the blazer. Buttoning up a blazer with a big bump may be a challenge but wearing one with a dress like this will definitely streamline the waist area and will create the illusion of a smaller bump. Use this approach only if you want to.
It is important to enjoy pregnancy and embrace all the joy, love and excitement it brings. The above are just SIMPLE STYLING TIPS.
Fashion TIP today :::: Choosing The RIght Maternity Clothes
Honestly, one of the best TIPS I was given when I first got pregnant was not to buy or invest in too many maternity clothes. They are not a good investment even if your intention is to keep them till you finish having all your children. They are quiet expensive. Did you know a maternity pant or trouser goes for about €50-60 minimum?
Well, that is affordable to some but If you are on a budget, follow these simple TIPS…………
1, buy your original size in the maternity wears. They are designed in such a way that they stretch or expand as your tummy begins to grow. The dress I have on in this blog is my original size. I haven’t changed much since the babies I believe 🙂
2. Invest in a maternity tummy belt. You can use them to support your tummy and so you will be able to wear your regular pants before pregnancy.
3, the best thing you can buy as a mum to be is a wrap dress. Not only are they flattering, they are also comfy to wear to work, easy to change at Doctor’s appointments and perfect for when you need to go to the toilet because pregnant women wee a lot.
To see my selection of the entire wardrobe you need for when you are expecting, see my article on “MATERNITY WEAR“
I was tempted to style this look with a body tummy to make the styling real like I am pregnant but I gave it a second thought because of the phone calls I would get about been pregnant.
Also the images will always be online so I dropped the idea. Not that anything is wrong with that but once you put anything online, they will always be online even if you delete them. So be careful what you share with the world.
So for future mums, believe me, you can still be as chic as you were before pregnancy. I wore this dress as a pregnant woman and now I styled it here again. If I did not say a thing, you wouldn’t have known it was indeed a “maternity” dress.
The dress continued to stretch as my bump grew bigger when I was pregnant. I enjoyed wearing it before dry cleaning and then putting away for posts like this.
So have fun being pregnant and be stylish.
Thank you so much for reading. I hope you like the styling. This styling will also be perfect for you non pregnant ladies. The colour mix is fabulous, chic and is perfect for Spring.
Wishing you a fantastic day today and God bless.

I always think dresses look great on pregnant women (well, I think they look great, period). Having never been pregnant myself, it seems that they would be very comfy as well.

Thank you very much Abrielle. Appreciate your feedback.

That color is everything on you. Not to mention your top knot is done so well. I can never do that as I have short hairs always popping out.
